I think Switch is the best thing to happen to Nintendo since the SNES.

SNES - Amazing system

N64 - Droughtfest that wouldn't see a new game release for 6 months upto a time. Lost all third party support to PS1.

GameCube - Powerful system with good games you can count on two hands.

Wii - Simply abysmal all around, arguably the worst well selling system. Endless shovelware and a good game once every 6-12 months that hopefully had pro controller support otherwise you were stuck with broken barely functional controls

Wii U - Self explanatory, better than the Wii but still all around terrible. Multiplats ran worse than PS360 half the time due to using a turbo GameCube CPU for backwards compatibility. The gimmick of the screen was cool but Switch does the portable concept 100x better.

DS - Had like 15 decent games, everything else was handheld garbage. IIn retrospective had the software line up of trash that you would find on a modern phone.

3DS - Somehow had an inferior line up compared to the DS. Pathetic hardware that couldn't even run PS2 ports properly. Turning on the 3D tanked the framerate by half

Switch had the best first party support Nintendo ever put out. The definitive machine for indies, got some decent third party ports. Has hundreds of games worth buying if you know the library well. The switch handheld and TV console concept is absolutely amazing and it deserves sales alone for offering something so innovative will be even more amazing with Switch 2 putting out decent hardware. Best thing to happen to Nintendo in the last 25 years. Ninja'd all the best support PSP and Vita had making a future Sony handheld absolutely worthless. First must own Nintendo systems in years.

What was actually appealing about the GameCube and N64 :ben: PS1 and PS2 beat them so badly, it was like an MMA champion vs a wheelchair bound retard.

Also multiplats missing music, sounds, levels. Blurry ass textures compared to PS1 ports for N64

Ditch is the only Nintendo platform I didn't buy. I couldn't care less about the same old Nintendont games and the graphics and performance are typically awful.

I also would never be in a situation where I would want to play games on a rinky dink small screen with nubs for controls.

Ditch Sucks, I Hate it

The fact that they have some of the best games Nintendo has ever created...

Super Mario 64, Zelda OOT, Golden Eye, Wave Race, Majora's Mask, Paper Mario, Luigi's Mansion, Pikmin, Smash Bros, Metroid Prime,

Without the Nintendo 64, and Gamecube... the Switch doesn't have anything to base it's best games off of...

The fuck you mean what was great about the N64 and Gamecube.. :tom:

Gamecube would be number one for me and what solidified me being a kid who played video games to an actual hobbyist "gamer". SSBMeelee, Wind Waker, FFCC, MGS:TS, RE4, even Baten Kaitos. All games I bought on my own and enjoyed. Anything before that, I was too young to really consider myself an avid gamer. Naturally I would buy a Wii expecting the same turn out, but it was a let down that I just stuck to PC with League of Legends and Diablo 3 mostly.

Getting a switch eventually but Gamecube is the BEST

Switch had the better Mario games and Zelda than GCN and N64 imo. Nevermind amazing JRPGs like Xenoblade, Fire Emblem, SMT5 etc. While the N64 had quest 64.

Windeaker for example started to get praised only AFTER the gen was finished at the time it was considered both the wrong path for Zelda and tedious pacing which they fixed in the HD version. TP was not considered to be up there with what Zelda should be quality wise

then dont play games on the small screen? you act like the OPTION to is being forced on you

N64 sucks now because it's dated junk. But the feels you got from that when we were young can't really be matched by a junk handheld console like ditch. N64 created memories . Ditch is just another Nintendo console with the same old shit.

I'd rather not play sub SD games on a 4k screen.

The Pokemon crowd of 10 year olds all remember this franchise as something dear when in actuality it's a Z rate JRPG. Now the franchise is on a console not a handheld it's even more appealing.

Look... PS1 is my favorite console of all time and deserves to have won it's generation... but the N64 was also INCREDIBLE.  Games like SM64, OOT, and GoldenEye elevated that shit through the stratosphere.

Nothing matches firing up GoldenEye with the boys and having some MP matches... or WWF No Mercy... or playing Ocarina of Time and SM64 with your friends... Jon is right.  That feeling when you saw SM64 or Zelda for the first time.. or unboxed a new game at christmas and new games were shown and announced... it was magical.  Now of course there's several factors that play into it... our age at the time, and everything like that... but it doesn't change the fact that the games were legit amazing and NEW AND INNOVATIVE.  These were the games that would set the course for 3D gaming.. and even to this day games are based off the concepts they started.

If the N64 had been CD based... things would have been much different.  N64 missed out on a lot of games because of the constraints of the cartridge format.. but don't get it twisted, Nintendo made a banger of a console and some amazing games/series came from that console.

Switch is a fine system, Nintendo have done very well with it... but it's not even close to Nintendo's glory years.

There's classic Nintendo (NES, SNES, N64, GCN) and then motion era Nintendo (Wii, WiiU, Switch)

Back in those days it didn't even matter If the game you were playing was good. Your friend could have got a stinker game from Kmart clearance shelf and it was an event.

Of course age played a factor into that but if I was a kid now I doubt I'd have the same experience.

While the NES is the system that got me into gaming, the SNES was god tier.
