PS Remote Play is still bad

I decided to give it a try with Like a Dragon Gaiden and couldn't believe how piss poor the quality was. It looked like it was running below 720p, even though both my PC and PS5 are hardwired to the same router. I thought I was playing a PS3 era Yakuza game with how it looked.

There was clear input lag too. Im not sure anyone could be excited for PS Portal when Sony's streaming tech is still this awful.

I saw a video posted from someone who got it for review, and despite the embargo which told them that they could not show the device functioning, he did.. the video has since been removed I think.. but you could clearly see the delay since they were showing both the TV screen, and the portal in frame.

They also said they have a high end Wifi 6e network router too.. so it's likely going to be even worse for people with Wifi5 only.

I don't think he was talking about the new ps handheld. I've played both Xbox and ps remote play. They both seemed fine to me. I wouldn't want to play a multiplayer game with it tho but for single player if you can deal with an occasional stutter or buffer, they're both enjoyable.

No, he definitely was.. he was literally demonstrating it.

Yeah, I don't know how anyone can game like this. Just buy a switch or mobile PC.

Even when it's good it's not. It's like last resort gaming

I played a lot of starfield and assassin's Creed in my tub lol

Despite anecdotal experiences, I've had issues with Remote Play in the past. I've not used it in years, but I am pleasantly surprised at how significantly better streaming games are over what used to be PlayStation Now. It has changed dramatically since the very first time I used it in 2014 playing Puppeteer.

I've thoroughly enjoyed playing God of War, God of War II, God of War III and Ascension without any overwhelming issues. I've yet to try the PS5, 4K/60fps games, but playing older PS3 era games/remasters have been satisfying. Is it worth the price yearly? Nah, but maybe a Premium sub here and there a month if you're looking to get a PS3 era nostalgic hit/remaster, sure.

"WiFi5" AKA 802.11ac is more than sufficient for any streaming unless you have a lot of "noise" in the 2.4GHz/5GHz spectrum; which is quite common these days. Regardless, it sounds like Twinkie is using his PC for Remote Play and seeing that his PS5/PC are both hardwired it has nothing to do with WiFi. Unless I'm misunderstanding and he's using Remote Play wirelessly? Either way, I think Sony's PC apps for Remote Play/PS Plus are complete garbage. They are due for a significant overhaul.

Edit: I've tried to find this video, but can't. This thing comes out in a couple days, so we'll be finding out pretty quickly.

Remote play is so hit or miss. I have fantastic internet, 1gb down, but it can still sometimes not work. I've only really tested it though and never tried to actually play via streaming.

When it DOES work it's pretty cool though. I've tried stadia, Xbox steaming, and GeForce now.

GeForce now is the best from what I've seen.

you can get a refurb'd steam deck for just a bit more and it does the same thing, except it allows for bluetooth headphones. garbage ass device.

Lol cows will still buy this and brag about how amazing DumboMan looks on it.
