I'm going to buy a PS2. Which games are actually still good today?

I'm going to buy Dragon Quest VIII, pretty much the main reason I'm getting one. 

Forget about most of the games that got HD ports, I know about those and rather not play them on PS2.

Found one. Viewtiful Joe. It's a bit more expensive than I would like though. Also the Suikode RPGs. 3-4-5.

Also Front Mission 4, which is cheap.

A lot of the PS2 games are still good today, but realistically most of them have better versions available elsewhere.

Amplitude/Frequency + fighting games

Also, waste of money. Youll use it for a month, spend a bunch of money on games you wont play then itll sit there unused and you will say you hate video games

oh man, this past weekend, went to the local video game shop and bought Contra Shattered Soldier for the PS2.

Hopefully my delicate launch PS3 phat will be dependable enough to play the game.

Ps2 was the last era where you had such a wide diverse selection of games. There are franchises that only exist in that era. 

I would avoid shooters and maybe some third person games as they will probably feel like steering a bus.

You know me too well. But hey, it's super cheap, I'm not making any serious investment.

Lmao. I actually wanted to play DQXI again but then I was reminded of DQVIII and I can't remove the idea of my head since. I can get the game for less than 20$ too.

I don't think I ever played the PS2 contra games. I remember they had a reputation for being really challenging. 

Probably pretty expensive if I had to take a guess.

I was looking for one. I want to buy a vintage old on but I haven't found quite what I wanted yet.

What the other options. RCA to composites?
