A forum wide vote and a small group review will both have it's share of problems, at least if everyone has a chance to be involved they can't bitch that the select few reviewing the articles don't like them and thus won't really pass their articles. Why don't you just write up an article and submit it to the forums where we can all judge whether or not it's worthy of going on the main site?
