A couple of things that are happening today on the legal front that people aren't noticing because of the world's most overly-hyped meet and greet photo op.

Russia Keeps Meddling, Mueller Says in Bid to Guard Evidence

By

and

‎June‎ ‎12‎, ‎2018‎ ‎1‎:‎57‎ ‎PM‎ ‎CDTUpdated on ‎June‎ ‎12‎, ‎2018‎ ‎4‎:‎00‎ ‎PM‎ ‎CDT

Mueller on Tuesday asked a federal judge in Washington for an order to protect voluminous evidence sought by lawyers for Concord Management and Consulting LLC, one of three companies and 13 Russian nationals charged in a February indictment alleging election meddling via social media. Prosecutors have uncovered evidence of other individuals and entities who are “continuing to engage” in similar activities.

The important part is what the Mueller prosecutors tell the judge:

Quote

Mueller Filing

Unauthorized disclosure of such evidence would help foreign intelligence services in Russia and elsewhere while undermining U.S. law enforcement and national security investigations, Mueller’s prosecutors wrote in Tuesday’s request for a protective order.

U.S. documents identify “sources, methods and techniques used to identify the foreign actors behind these interference operations,” Mueller wrote. Improper disclosure of that information would tip foreign intelligence services about how the U.S. operates and let them “adjust their conduct, thus undermining ongoing and future national security operations.”

Prosecutors said they have gathered “unclassified but sensitive information that remains relevant to ongoing national security investigations and efforts to protect the integrity of future U.S. elections.” It includes the identities of cooperating individuals and companies, as well as links between the defendants, uncharged parties and foreign governments, that goes well beyond what prosecutors intend to disclose at trial, they wrote. They said they gave additional details to U.S. District Judge Dabney Friedrich under court seal.

Prosecutors asked Friedrich to bar any co-defendant of Concord from reviewing evidence until they appear in his courtroom to respond to the charges. They also want to regulate disclosure of “particularly sensitive material to foreign nationals” by first limiting it to U.S. lawyers for defendants.

So that means Mueller has "parties" that he intends to bring charges to them, but not yet.  Now this is very odd. Because there is no reason for him to hold off on charging any regular person, or regular private organization with a crime.

Now if the person, or entity were a high-profile "public" party, then this starts making some sense to hold off at this time. It also means that he is NOWHERE NEAR CLOSE to finishing his investigation.

Now that may or may not be worthy of speculation, however there's another thing that just happened to be reported:

Rosenstein plans to call on House to investigate its own staff

Washington (CNN)Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein's ongoing battle with House Republicans reached new heights Tuesday, as the No. 2 senior leader of the Justice Department plans to call on the House to investigate its own committee staff.

Rod Rosenstein, the one guy who has been laying his head low and trying to walk on egg shells this entire time, is suddenly starting to get aggressive.

And its towards the Republicans who control the Intelligence Committee in the House. That's Devin Nunes.

Mueller talking about "uncharged parties", Rosenstein suddenly focusing on Republican members in Congress.  We're starting to see the investigation pointing in a certain direction.

The Rosenstein thing may not be related.  I think at that level, there's a certain amount of crimes that are committed that are ignored in general because it keeps the wheels greased.  Insider trading, bribes (re: "lobbying"), etc.  Stuff that's been normalized at that level and that law enforcement typically ignores because nobody wants to get fired over it.

Rosenstein is likely threatening to blow all that wide open if they try to pull any shit.  For most of the congressmen, it's probably just bribes and insider trading.  For some of them, I'd expect proof that they know Russians are meddling and they're actively allowing it to happen because it benefits them.

But overall, it's probably Rosenstein saying "fuck with me and I'll spill the beans before the election".

Michael Cohen is expected to drop his lawyers.

CORRECTION: It appears his lawyers are bailing and no longer want to represent him. yikes.

He's getting ready to flip.

He must be vegan, because Mueller spooked him with all of those nothingburgers.:tom5:

Ok, there is a bit of hypocrisy going on with the Republican party regarding this NK deal Trump made in comparison to the Iran denuclear deal Obama made with Iran 3 years ago.

Read this article, it summarizes it to the point.

Nuclear War was never even an option for North Korea. :drake: Trump is making history though getting the North Korea regime to abide by US terms. It'll be interesting to see how this all plays out... this is just the beginning.

This is true. He was sending Kim systemwars level shit talk over twitter just 6 months ago, but now, somehow, he will be remembered as the president who met Kim Jong-Un and has possibly created peace in Asia.

Although he’s pissed Iran off and ripped up the contract. His claims of it being a a ‘bad deal’ we’re likely true though.

Swings and roundabouts.

Like I said, this is only the beginning and want to see how it plays out. All of those previous commitments and agreements mean nothing now.

While shitting on the international rules based system by picking fights with Canada and the EU over trade. He also shat on the Iran deal and the Paris treaty  and the TPP (which would have countered China influence in South East Asia) just because Obama sux i hate him

Do you realize that Kim also wins big by meeting with US Presidents? The Kims have always been willing to meet, because it puts them on equal footing to a global power. They have also made big promises in the past about denuclearization. They have always walked back on their promises.

Don't get me wrong, I hope this time is different and that Kim actually wants to modernize NK and end the conflict, but this is why JonB shouldn't make threads about politics
