The Super Official Forza Horizon 4 Thread

At least, the physics are.

Handling wise, it reminds me of Dirt 3, arcadey but firmy planted in reality.

The soundtrack is just as good as FH3 if not better.

I've been listening to Horizon Pulse and it is a nice blend of electronica and indie.

So far I've been rocking a 94s Ford Escort for dirt racing, a 60's dune buggy for rally crossing and a 17 Ford Focus RS for street racing.

The handling is perfect in this game. Oh and cross-country >>>

I just beat Tomb Raider. 99.2%.  I can't find the other .8%

maybe ill put in a pity $8 to play the whole game on gamepass, no time for an annual racer when World Ends With You, Dark Souls: W.H.E. and Black Ops 4 are on the way. :glad:

Absolutely it's better in many ways.

I'm gonna do a full review for this mahfucka when I feel I've seen most of it.

The Goliath race is

Man... when the track editor comes... I'm gonna be making some godly shit.  There's a few tracks already that I really REALLY love and I'm going to try to incorporate a few of them together into a bigger circuit :smoke:

That's not to say there's not some things that I wish were different, or better though.  There's still lots to improve... and I know exactly how they can make the next one feel completely fresh all over again :blessed:

Remij you have an unbelievable amount of time put into this already haha

Yea, it was pretty much my most anticipated game since they announced it.  I pretty much had Friday and Saturday set aside to play it.  Sunday I wanted to play but we went and visited with family... lol.

The progression in this game is just so much more in-depth than FH3.  I was doing a lot of clearing boards and getting familiar with the world layout.  I went hard on road races, but now I'm doing more dirt and cross country races.  There's a $2 million home that grants you fast travel anywhere on the map, but like FH3 you have to pay until you've destroyed all the fast travel boards.  So I got that done and pretty much got most of my money back with super spinwheels.

There's so much to do in this one compared to FH3.  I like the Horizon stories as well.  That's a neat idea... same with the drifting club :wow2:

When the track creator comes... there'll be unlimited stuff to do in this game... and then there's the expansions... :cosby2:   It's almost too much :blessed:

Actually though, all of us have already put a shit load of time into this game.  I'm pretty surprised.  Besides GD (cause he's playing TR right now) there's not a single person under 12hrs :whew:

So what about the pop-in problem?

I haven't noticed anything on PC.  FH4 is much better than FH3 was in that regard.  But some people seem to be having issues on both Xbox and PC.  I think it could be connected to the way that the game transfers you into and out of online sessions.  If your online and then the game loses connection or you switch sessions for whatever reason to offline.. then the world populates with driveatars and I think that's what people are mistaking for car pop-in.  One guy was claiming on X1X that cars were popping in right infront of him and he couldn't even have time to react.  Of all my time playing (20h) and all the footage I've watched.. it's never happened on any platform, so I think it's a connection issue with him specifically.  If you're talking specifically about the issues people were having with the demo on PC.. I think it was a bug that if you changed the settings at any point after starting the game, the LODs would become shit.  It's been resolved in the final game though.  There's still general streaming issues that happen with all open world games.. but yea much better than FH3.

It's a really solid version of the game if you're interested in trying it.  Really smooth on PC and quite well optimized given how good it looks.  The Windows Store is another matter entirely though.  I haven't had issues in ages with it, but your mileage may vary.  Gamepass(test) to the rescue! lol

GOTY contender

For me, hell fucking yea. lol

Another thing I love is the Forzathon live and the head to heads.  It's so much better integrated this time around.  The Forzathon Shop points to buy legendary and rare cars/items is an amazing idea to get people to take part in them.

I'm done most of the Summer Forzathon challenges, but I can figure out how to get a Retro Hatchback fast enough to get Ultimate Speed skills.  There's only 2 days left.

I'm also just thinking of how amazing some of these tracks I've raced on are going to be in the other seasons.  Next week it's going to feel like a new map :blessed:

It's not all amazing though.  The club integration is completely worthless.  There's no leaderboard and competition between people in the same club.  It's really barebones and I'm quite disappointed in that.  I liked the weekly xp leaderboards and club ranks from FH3.

Hopefully they can add that in in a future update.  There's lots of other tiny things too.
