If the odd studio acquisition lead to some lacklustre games - like a game that ended up scoring a 7 or 8 instead of 8 or 9 that would be one thing.

 

If every other studio acquisition lead to some decent AA titles, that would be another thing.

 

But the history of Microsoft acquisitions has been a complete disaster.  I mean even when it comes to grabbing their last studio: Compulsion games. They then released We Happy Few which is sitting at 64-67 depending on the platform; and they're are some awful, and I mean awful reviews to pad the score of this unpolished, bugtastic mess of a title.

That's precisely my point, MS bought a studio based on what they could make, and turns out to be buggy mess of a game. And yeah Rare has made AA games - in the X360 era; since then its been Killer Instinct, Kinect Sports Rivals, and Sea of Thieves...
