Japanese AAA games are dead, handhelds are the future.

That's what people used to say last-gen. :laff:

Monster Hunter World - 11 million units. Best sales for a standalone Capcom game ever.

Final Fantasy XV - 8 million shipped.

Kingdom Hearts 3 - Shipped 5 million units so far. Fastest selling game in the series.

Metal Gear Solid V - Shipped 5 million units. (old stats)

Dragon Quest XI - 4 million. (despite being a 'flop' outside of Japan)

Resident Evil 2 - 3 million in one week.

Nier Automata - 3.5 million sold.

Dragon Ball FighterZ - 3.5 million sold.

Dark Souls III - 3 million sold. (very old stats, probably way higher now)

Bloodborne - 3 million. (estimates from VG chartz)

Nioh - 2.5 million sold.

Persona 5 - 2.2 million sold.

Capcom B)

To be fair, their fighting games are flopping. Both SFV and MvCI were commercial flops.

The two games were poorly managed though and the average gamer doesn't want to have to invest tons of money in DLC for some Japanese fighting games where they get demolished online.

It will be interesting to see how much DMCV sells. I think it will enjoy a good success, hopefully.

If they can turn their fighting division around like they have their other divisions, there's no stopping them :whew:

They need to handle their fighting games differently. Tons of single player content from day one, no insane milkage through paid DLCs (new refined versions at budget price are preferable), great graphics and production values (MvCI got a lot of backlash for it's visuals).

And they would sell comparable to last-gen numbers. There's a rumor of a new MvC being in the work, supposed to make up where Infinite failed.
