DMC demo performs better on PS4 PRO than Xbox One X.. and looks sharper

Recommended Posts

@DynamiteCop!..... So after our discussion yesterday, is Capcom being lazy here too with the Xbox1 version as it clear that the pro version runs better? :jordan3:

Summary:

PS4 Pro - static resolution 3072x1728p
Shaper less stable image on the Pro
90% of 60fps delivered during the analysis
Average frame-rate of 54

Xbox One X - full 4k 3840x2160p
Better form of anti aliasing
Softer stable image on the X
82% of 60fps delivered during the analysis
Average frame-rate of 49

PS4 - 1920x1080p
Roughly 10% better performance than the S
86% of 60fps delivered during the analysis

Xbox One S - 1920x1080p (possibly using reconstruction)
Pixel shader is cut back, dithered heavily on the S
Softer image than PS4
75% of 60fps delivered during the analysis

No, it's a 56% higher resolution or beyond depending on reconstruction with the Pro with better AA on what is the same code from Gamescom.

Why are you even involved in these threads? Your console is a gameboy with no games; least of all this one.

P.S. The Pro is undoubtedly also using reconstruction like the S, look at how it and the base Xbox One respond to that screen on the left as opposed to the base PS4 and X. You didn't actually think the Pro was rendering out a 156% higher resolution than the base PlayStation 4 with a better framerate did you?

To be fair, he's simply stating what NXGamer stated in his video.  And the PRO does perform better.

That said, yep the PRO is 100% undoubtedly using a reconstruction technique.  It's the same thing as RE2 basically.. which makes sense considering it's the same engine. He made the same mistake with his RE2 comparison.

You can easily tell by the jaggies on the sign (especially the top part) as it comes to a stop.  It's exacerbated by the fact that the sign has a bunch of tiny details which are in a constant state of movement.. so it flickers because the reconstruction can't quite keep up/make sense of the rapid changes in detail.  What's weird though is that that particular part (the edge of the top part of the sign) also looks more jaggy on PRO than even the base Xbox One version, which also looks to be using a reconstruction technique, as it comes to a stop.  Maybe that's happening because the lower res of the base Xbox version has less detail in the sign and thus the reconstruction technique holds up a bit better.

Interesting.  I do find it odd that NXGamer hasn't made the connection between both PS4 and X1X versions rendering similarly, and PRO and XO rendering similarly.  I'd like to see some other sources and see if it's the same thing, or if something else is playing a part.

Resolution alone does not dictate which game runs better.

You didn't answer the question.... is Capcom lazy too? :cmpunk1:

I did answer you, how could it be lazy when its operational metrics in every other regard are vastly superior? It runs better on what is confirmed as months old code and same demo displayed at Gamescom. Also the PS4 Pro is not free of drops, the only place the X takes a real hit is during the Goliath battle which in normal gameplay it tends to stay locked to 60.

I love this newfangled "it runs better" shit, it's hilarious. The X is probably rendering out double if not more the resolution of the Pro with better AA and you guys get tied up on a 5 FPS variance; WHICH MIND YOU 90% of the variance is calculated during cut-scenes.

Also again...

Where is the ditch version? Get out of here sheep.

no doubt Pro is the best console on the market now, so glad i didn't bite on Xboner X. :glad:

the real question is, is Xboner X the worst investment you could ever make in gaming?

Even the OG Xbox One was a better value. Back then it had exclusives at least, sure it was worse on multiplats, but there was a time when Rise of the Tomb Raider, Dead Rising 3, Halo 5, Forza/Horizon were all exclusives. one platform real exclusives.

Xboner X? Never got an exclusive, and now every game performs worst on it - for a premium $500/600 price tag! Holy fuck.

PS5 already won next gen. Never bet on Xflop
