You guys are being very careful with your words in this thread, there's a lot of if's flying around to avoid the egg when this doesn't happen.

Long story short there's literally nothing to support this rumor. Microsoft still owns the game and everything related to it, they still have the trademark, it's still active.

Careful with our words?   It's called not pulling stuff out our ass and acting as if it's a fact.... you should try it sometime.

It's rumor that enough insiders have been hearing since last summer apparently.   It could be true or not.   Time will tell.

Holy shit

That would be the worst part honestly, an open world UE4 game on Switch? Fucking Yoshi is 396p to 576p on Switch... Yoshi...

It doesn't matter if MS still owns the trademark, Platinum can just change the name and release the game as originally intended without MS shit management interfering and bringing the project down.

I vote they call the new version "Not-cancelled-bound" :ahmad:

They don't just own the trademark, they own the copyright, the code, all assets, all marketing materials and likenesses.

They own the intellectual property. No one can do anything without their say, hell they could continue development themselves if they so choose.

So? It's no different than how they handled Minecraft, the game was already on other platforms so they continued to release it on other platforms. How many other games have they done this with that were not already previously released elsewhere?

A big fat 0

MS abandoned the IP... both trademark and copyright.

But they do own the game code though.

Platinum and Nintendo can create a new Scalebound if they wanted too... they don't need the old code to do so.

Question is... will they.... let's see how this shakes out.

Then they would've confiscated their computer workstations as their property.

MS isn't going to do shit.

The copyright is active and will be for 100 years or rather 95 now as far as I'm aware and while the trademark was abandoned it's still active and has 5 years remaining. They have a 10 year life.

It's still their property and righted just as it was before it was canned.
