That doesn't really mean anything because Microsoft can still target basically every device capable of running Youtube, it's not some real advantage.

You have to think of the children. A lot of them are growing up with youtube stuck in their head. They couldn't give two fucks about any other app, but I bet they would be happy to join in on a session with their favorite youtuber.

This will be a marathon for google. It might not be a huge success in the beginning, but down the line, the rewards will be huge.

Remember what happened to Facebook? Now it's the "old peoples social media site"... How long does Youtube have?

We can't predict the future. Youtube going down could happen, but right now they're only growing bigger.

That's its Achilles heel. That's why I think it's the future and not the present. If 5G works out for rural areas than maybe then Google will be able to succeed with this.

5G isn't going to live up to the hype in most cities, let alone in suburban or rural areas.

The only problem with Google is that they are so big that even with the scope of this thing, to them it's a drop in the ocean. They will happily dump is like Google Plus or Google Glass if it doesn't become a hit. Meanwhile for Sony, gaming is basically what saved them and it's their most profitable aspect, for Nintendo it's all they have and for MS it's become a fairly major focus too.

Google have the resources and capabilities to become the industry leader but do they have the desire or need to? How hard will they push this? Especially since at launch it is going to be fairly limited in the broad sense of things.

I still think the way to go is slow steps into streaming. What google is doing now is like if a console went digital only intstead of slowly increasing digital adoption while still providing all the physical capabilities.

This is an even smaller drop in the bucket for Microsoft, they eclipse Google's market cap by 50 billion and have 25 billion more in cash on hand.

They're on the road to being the first trillion dollar company, it may happen this year.

Multiple sources familiar with Walmart's plans, who wish to remain anonymous, confirmed to USG that the retail giant is exploring its own platform to enter in the now-competitive video game streaming race. No other details were revealed other than it will be a streaming service for video games, and that Walmart has been speaking with developers and publishers since earlier this year and throughout this year's Game Developers Conference.

Welp, it begins. I expect about 30 services by years end LOL

Lmfao.... The real Google company is called Alphabet....Google had to restructure and create Alphabet to avoid being broken up

What we know as "Google" now is only a small portion of the company as a whole.

The real Google before the restructure is now known as Alphabet and they're bigger than MS.

No they're not, they also have 25 billion less in cash reserves.

just double checked.  MS just recently edged passed Alphabet a few months ago.

Google was ahead since 2012... didn't realize it changed slightly.

Another place Google is fucking themselves is not releasing their game beyond their streaming platform. Sure the "exclusive" thing sounds good but it's not, people are not ready for that yet. The idea that this game can never be played any other way, cannot be played natively, cannot be owned.

Microsoft is playing things smart, they get to play both sides of the fence, they can cater to people who just want to stream and those who still want to own and natively make use of their games.

Do we need a new website now? This could be @Cookester15 's time to capatilize on something new that could actually bring traffic.
