Give McDonald's workers their $15 per hour minimum wage but raise salaries for IT jobs to $25 starting. The problem is not minimum wage but rather how stagnant salaries have come in the last decade. Don't hate DOWNWARDS towards the McDonalds employees, start realizing that "okay, if they're getting $15/hour, then the rest of the scale should start moving upwards in pay." The people earning $18 an hour should start seeing themselves as being worth over $20/hour. The people earning $20, should start thinking about $25. And so on, and so on. The average American household has had stagnant wages since 1991.......that's not a typo, almost 30 fucking years. Productivity is up, meaning that American companies are MAKING MORE money from the productivity of each worker, so why isn't the worker getting a higher wage? We know where that additional money is going, we can track it.

Ike★ 2,906
Comparing Seattle’s homeless problem is a different beast for many different reasons. It’s a complex issue that is not partisan and nor should it be. If anything, the big corporations in the area like Amazon and Microsoft should be paying more in taxes. Its a right-wing rag.................that has RUSSIAN MONEY funneled through it. This is factual information that we've now confirmed through criminal trials in which people have plead guilty. Jailing people cost money...........in fact, it costs MORE MONEY to the local and state government. And they can't stay in prison forever, so NO IT DOESN'T reduce homelessness, because they are right back where they started. Hell that's just basic OBSERVABLE common sense that just debunked your last sentence.Talk about a weak argument.

We now have criminal investigations against Pharmaceutical companies for CREATING an opioid crisis that most definitely create homeless people. There should be corporations who should be sued into oblivion and have all of their money taken so that it can be spent to combat the problems they clearly created. Actually posting information prior to the recession hitting middle-class Americans actually keeps the gap close. But sure, here's a more recent one, and more importantly it shows you how the middle-class was treated prior to Republicans "Trickle-down" economics being implemented. I assure you, that gap has not closed within the past few years.

Machines are making us more productive while workers can't do much to make productivity grow on their own.

Did you think technology helping workers achieve more productivity ONLY BEGAN in the mid-1970's??????? Wrong, advancements in steam-machinery, electric-powered machinery has existed throughout that entire graph. Your attempt to explain it is invalid.

As an economist I assure you productivity and incomes are very much tied, and that the 1% are being more productive and the 99% aren't growing in productivity.
