You are seeing this correctly.  Don't hate DOWNWARDS towards the McDonalds employees, start realizing that "okay, if they're getting $15/hour, then the rest of the scale should start moving upwards in pay."

 

The people earning $18 an hour should start seeing themselves as being worth over $20/hour.

 

The people earning $20, should start thinking about $25.

 

And so on, and so on.

 

The average American household has had stagnant wages since 1991.......that's not a typo, almost 30 fucking years.

 

Productivity is up, meaning that American companies are MAKING MORE money from the productivity of each worker, so why isn't the worker getting a higher wage?

Comparing Seattle’s homeless problem is a different beast for many different reasons. It’s a complex issue that is not partisan and nor should it be. If anything, the big corporations in the area like Amazon and Microsoft should be paying more in taxes.

We now have criminal investigations against Pharmaceutical companies for CREATING an opioid crisis that most definitely create homeless people.

 

There should be corporations who should be sued into oblivion and have all of their money taken so that it can be spent to combat the problems they clearly created.

As an economist I assure you productivity and incomes are very much tied, and that the 1% are being more productive and the 99% aren't growing in productivity.
