Xbox Live Gold price hike?

To be honest it's not that much of an increase if all is relative, you were only paying $52 USD before now you're at $65. You were paying less than people in the US.

A 25% increase is most definitely a significant price rise  :drake:

That's why I said if all is relative, he's been paying $8 less than people in the US and that's where the company and prices are derived from.

Regardless, it's a very significant price hike. The relative price of something is irrelevant when judging price hikes. If cost of bread went from $1 to $1.50 you don't say 'oh it's only 50c', it would be a gigantic 50% increase.

Lol..playing online for consoles should be free like on PC. Any price increase is not a good look, you don't have to damage control this.

Why should it be free? They provide a secure host network, they continually update the community platform, provide VoIP service, provide dedicated servers, cloud saving, cloud hosting for media files, you get large discounts on games, you get four 'free' games every month.

What they provide far outweighs the cost.

No they don't.

Its still peer-to-peer. You're paying for a glorified hosted friends list and chat service.

Then how does Steam provide it for free? And Epic Store is giving out a free game every 2 weeks without a paid subscription.

They can charge for the other stuff for people who wants them but playing online should be free, most games are P2P anyway.

It depends entirely on the game and if it's opted in, but they do offer dedicated servers.

Outside of Crackdown 3 (which nobody is playing)........name me one game in which online multiplayer is not peer-to-peer

You're not smart enough to get away with vague answer.

Steam is operating on an open platform so the same logic can't apply, and they make use of not only their storefront but marketplace to offset development costs associated with platform features.

The reality is for PC all of this stuff aside from some nuanced community features is handled externally through other programs, websites, and webhosting. When you're offering a closed ecosystem you can't have external reliance nor is it acceptable to make your users fend for themselves, you have to offer these things yourself which is largely where the cost is incurred.

The Master Chief Collection

Only partially. LOL

It also uses peer-to-peer.

And the game didn't work, and they didn't fix it for 3 years.  This is absolutely laughable, that's the best you could find?

Not only partially, that's how it was in the beginning, they migrated to a fully dedicated network in the overhaul update. For Honor uses them as well. Not every game uses them but games do use them.

Frankly even though peer to peer is inferior it would be nice if every game had both because when dedicated's eventually get shut down that's the end of a game.

Oh............so its all relative

If only a few use them, why are they raising the price?

After all, its all relative.
