NBA/NHL Playoff Thread

Raps regular season record against the Warriors is irrelevant. Even without KD, Warriors have the talent to comfortably beat the Raptors in a playoffs series. But for whatever reason, Warriors defense is not what it used to be, and it has been absolutely awful. And without KD, the Warriors have been unable to outscore the Raps with defense that bad. On the other hand, Raps defense has been mostly excellent throughout the playoffs and they're quite clearly the better defensive team regardless. And it's not just Kawhi doing it, Toronto role players have stepped up since the Milwaukee series. Still can't believe that this Raps team is about to win a championship but it is what it is.

Raptors have yet to face GS full team... even in the regular season..... KD was out with an injury for one game and Stephen was out for the next.

Not making excuses.. just addressing that Jehurey sees this as a sign the league is catching up.. lol

That’s not true. Toronto beat Golden State by 20 in on the road in December. Kawhi didn’t play. Everyone on GS except Cousins did.

Regular season is whatever though. But even with KD this raptors team is capable of winning and at least putting up a fight in a long series. I’ve felt that way the majority of the season and I watched probably like 70-75 of the games. It was crazy to me at the beginning of the year when people had Boston and Philly over the Raps. Milwaukee was a surprise. To be fair no one really expected Pascal to be so good so fast but even without that it was a really good team on paper. With the Gasol trade and the emergence of Siakam it just became even better. Easily the most complete starting lineup outside of a fully healthy golden state, and just a bit behind that.

The only reason they weren’t getting credit was cause of their past failures but this is basically an entirely different team at this point. At the beginning of the year 3/5 of the starters were brand new and by the end 4/5 were. Lowry the only one still from last year. They have an all defense caliber starting lineup, winning pedigree, finals mvp, etc. Depth was a bit of a concern after the Gasol trade but luckily they got healthy.

They played 22 different starting lineups throughout the year cause of injuries, load management and in season trades, with basically an entirely new team and then an additional big shakeup at the deadline. The way they’ve gelled is really something tbh.

If Kawhi stays and they have a bit better luck with injuries next year this team will be phenomenal. Repeat wouldn’t be out of the question especially with Golden State possibly getting weaker.

He's a gametime decision and his usage of "wants to play tonight" just leaves such unnecessary room open. I'm already deep down the rabbit hole and I'm sticking with it until that man steps on the court during regulation time.

He's trying to thread a fine line.

If he comes out and plays, and he sucks, he probably gets trashed on.

If he comes out and plays, and seems effective for a handful of minutes, he could "reinjure" himself and leave the game and he comes off looking good and was "heroic and gritty".

If he doesn't play at all, they'll definitely trash him.

It's a no win scenario for him honestly. He's not going to play like himself after sitting out for a month with no practise.

The conspiracy theory was that it was a full tear in the calf or an Achilles injury and GSW knew he wasn't going to be ready.

He 's looking good in the pre-game clips I've watched so I guess it was just a grade 2 calf strain. Good thing I didn't actually put money on it. :ben:

I haven't Serge Ibaka play this effectively in a long time.

How the hell did the OKC Thunder fail to win a championship during the early 2010's????

Coaching. Scotty Brooks couldn’t handle it.
