If Microsoft comes out of the gate swinging next-gen, how can the PS5 compete?

Recommended Posts

Microsoft is probably going to seek a power advantage as is being hinted at and let's say both consoles are $500, okay that's great, but let's say they both launch with great games. What then?

Microsoft's launch lineup and what they can offer will be on GamePass from day one. If they offer 4-5 launch titles and Sony does the same; to play Sony's games you have to pay an additional $240-$300 out the door. You're now in for over $800 to nearly $900 after taxes.

With the Xbox route you're in for $560 out the door, 63-68% of  the cost with the ability to play their games straight away. Hell, they could offer a much more powerful console for $600 or even $700 and you'd still be out the door for less money with the ability to play all the launch titles.

How can Sony compete with that if this message is conveyed well from day one?

Real exclusives.

Close thread.

They have no effect in the real world, people aren't abandoning consoles in record numbers to play PC. Xbox One selling as it has before and after confirms this.

Get a new narrative shit bird.

How can SONY compete?.... See this is why you're delusional.

Why do you ALWAYS start all your scenarios out with giving Xbox the advantage and then try to twist reality to suit that narrative.

Instead of you looking at the reality now.  Xbox has a brand problem outside of the US and then frame your scenario on what MS can do to compete.

Even if Xbox Next is more powerful it won't matter though, that's literally all they can do to atleast have one talking point. The thing is, this isn't a normal generational transition like the PS360 to PS4/one was. Nobody's pressing reset and jumping ship from PS4 to the next xbox unless sony colossally fucks up again like with the PS3, which they won't, they've learned from their mistakes.

-You have over 100 million PS4 owners now invested into sony's ecosysyem and PS5 will be Backwards compat with PS4. Digital wasn't a thing last gen. 360 owners didn't care to switch over, but now with the majority of games collections being digital, no one is going to throw away their PS4 library.

-MS has the reputation of being the least effective content creator out of the big 3 to put it nicely: Their games suck ass, all flop, and are largely forgettable and always end up with terrible Meta's. Worst off, they can all be played elsewhere. MS has a reputation of having a piss poor 1st party + no exclusives and it's going to haunt them next gen.

-Hardcore Xbox guys don't  want to upgrade after being nickel and dimed with the X recently. MS hasn't even released a killer app for the DoneX that takes advantage of the hardware, and they're seriously going to try to sell consumers up on another, possibly two new models of Xbox? :rofls:

GOOD LUCK!

-You are going to cry when you see the exclusives, timed exclusive deals, and 3rd party games that will align themselves with Sony next gen.  PlayStation is going into next gen with the industry in its corner. If you thought games like SF5, Bloodborne and etc. were bad, now imagine what Sony can get with a complete command of the marketshare. it's going to be a bloodbath. Sony is going in for the kill.

Tl;DR: It's a wrap folks. Sony's got MS in checkmate territory to the point where Xbox is being chased off of the console market and having to carve out a new niche of streaming, services, and multiplatform development.

3 Gens in a row now Sony has produced more quality exclusives than Microsoft. Also microsoft tends to have a habit of making a push for a year or two and then just abandoning the console for the rest of the gen.

Why on Earth would anyone trust Microsoft?

I wonder how the successor to a console that's outselling the PS2, made more profit than the PS2 in one year, that has a first party running for GOTYs every year, and saw 75% YOY increase profits, is the market leader in VR, and is outselling the XBox at $100 more in its main market, gets like 50 Japanese exclusives a year just by not being an XBox, HOW IT CAN POSSIBLY COMPETE.

Ps2 vs xbox

Then

X360 vs ps3

It's very possible to compete . Is MS capable tho ? They are stupid so I doubt it , tho I think it will do better than xb1
