He's right, the game was canceled, it was canned. Nintendo took the project in name only to another developer and started from square one. 

 

Just because a Metroid Prime 4 is coming doesn't mean it's the same project, the original MP4 was cancelled. Either way it doesn't matter, this game won't see the light of day for at minimum 3 more years, it probably won't even be a Switch game.

That's called taking the project in a different direction.... ideas, concepts, mechanics, story elements, development, developers etc all can change during the project development life cycle. 

 

The product was not canceled, as it is still in development aka still within the project development life cycle..... its not dead Jim. 

 

contrast that with Scalebound.. the entire product was cancelled.
