Digital Foundry - Saint's Row the Third on Switch... ouch

Recommended Posts

I haven't watched it all but within the first 30sec John already said it could be worse than the PS3/360 versions.. LOL

-1080p docked 720p portable

-huge fps drops at times

-lots of input lag when compared to PS3

-loading screens are longer on Switch than PS3

-shadows appear slightly worse than PS3

-pop-in the same across versions

-Probably the worst Switch game they've tested outside of Ark Survival Evolved :D

-They say the engine really isn't suited to Switch, and outside of being completely rebuilt for it, there's not much they can do.

incompetent dev team? Switch is more powerful than last gen consoles, theres no reason for an old game to run worse unless the developers were just clueless.

If you've played the Switch version of Saints Row: The Third - The Full Package since it was released last week, you might have noticed the open-world sandbox is a bit rough around the edges. To make the experience more enjoyable on Nintendo's hybrid device, Deep Silver is issuing its first patch for this version of the game later this week. Below are the various fixes and improvements you can expect, courtesy of the Deep Silver website:

  • added auto-matchmaking feature
  • added low resolution particle rendering and related performance update
  • added credits sequence updates to icons & names
  • fixed an issue where audio would desync after switching to the main menu and back
  • subtitle fixes for female character customization
  • fixed user confirmation pop-up to reconnect to Nintendo Switch Online after connection loss
  • fixed auto matchmaking for public game play
  • fixed DLC Russian & Japanese localization
  • crash fix: forced termination may occur after selecting “End game” on the pose screen
  • general iterative bugfixes and performance optimizations
  • infinite loading screen fixed
  • user confirmation popup to reconnect to Nintendo Switch Online after connection loss
  • fixed International & Japanese subtitles and lip sync
  • subtitle fixed (subtitles for female character)

This patch will be ready for you to download to your Nintendo Switch from Thursday 16th May at 3AM CEST/ 4AM BST/ 9PM PST (15th May).

Deep Silver also mentioned how any "unusual issues" could be reported to the technical support team. This covers the following:

  • Input lag
  • Default low sensitivity in controls
  • Slider sensitivity in character creation
  • Texture and graphic bugs

Theres a patch releasing thursday. Might make it better? i dont give a fuck,.

eh. i can't say i'm surprised.

Plus I mean, you're not buying a switch to replay SR3, or because you missed out on it from last gen; Ninty consoles (especially after the GC days) were always about first party.

Edit: That being said, TSHBO :benio:

We're talking about a developer that is more or less defunct, Volition, and Deep Silver is attempting to make a Switch port and not using a porting company to do it.

Yeah, that doesn't surprise me.

Yeah if they are gonna do a port of an old game at least make it an enhanced port. Not a hack job.

Switch is 157 GF undocked, 394 docked and Wii U was 176 under a completely different architecture...
