Playstation Tablet 1,723
Sony said their goal next gen which will last till like 2027 is to reach 5 million PSNOW subs by the end of it in the best scenario. Anyone find that goal underwhelming for whats being marketed as "teh future"

Their hardware presence in terms of "system wars" can be disregarded. It'll be a bad generic PC with an added sub. Edited May 22, 2019 by Team 2019

Playstation Tablet 1,723
Back on streaming. I think their big hope isn't so much new players subbing that don't own a PS5. But people that buy games digitally on PSN will pay an extra sub to play their games on the go. Edited May 22, 2019 by Team 2019

It is more than just about PlayStation. Edited May 22, 2019 by lynux3

I honestly think there's just no interest in it yet, but it could get a lot more attention if Google starts paying for exclusive streaming rights for certain titles. lynux3 2,049
https://www.thurrott.com/xbox/207220/microsoft-announces-more-xcloud-details Quote Microsoft has already started deploying xCloud blades to datacentres across 13 Azure regions in North America, Asia, and Europe. Quote According to Microsoft, Project xCloud has the “technical capability” to stream more than 3,500 games without needing any modifications from the developer. And when the developer updates their Xbox One version of the title, they will be directly available on xCloud without requiring any further modification. Minus the confusion regarding modifications, it looks like Microsoft has taken the same approach as what Sony is doing with PlayStation Now.

They're test blades, I don't think the One S is actually going to be their public rollout hardware. Next-gen whatever is going to be fitted into their datacenters at large scale (fully BC) while the One S is being used for regional and private testing.

Microsoft already publicly confirmed that Project xCloud consists of modified Xbox One S hardware. It's not changing before or after the launch window, but they'll continue to upgrade their servers over time to include their next generation Xbox hardware at some point. Putting Xbox One X hardware in doesn't make sense financially and their next generation Xbox hardware is simply not going to be ready in time. Microsoft is probably ready to push this service out as soon as they feasibly can. Edited May 25, 2019 by lynux3

They're not going to hypothesize their next-gen hardware into a presentation for a streaming service when it not only hasn't been announced, it hasn't been outlined. This shit isn't even going to begin "public" flighting until the end of the year with no doubt a full pubic release at the end of 2020 to coincide with the launch of their new hardware. One S hardware makes zero sense outside of testing phases, not only financially but logistically. Edited May 25, 2019 by DynamiteCop!

One S hardware makes zero sense outside of testing phases, not only financially but logistically. It is confirmed through their Project xCloud reveal video. It makes perfect sense financially and logistically. What are you talking about? It guarantees compatibility with the existing library of Xbox One games, they already have the resources lined up to produce these blades, and Microsoft already confirmed, again through their Project xCloud video, that they're deploying these servers throughout their Azure regions already. The longer the wait the more money they're losing. The longer these servers sit in a cabinet, take up space and power, and aren't getting any MRR the more money goes down the drain. It's not changing for the public trial later this year or when it releases in 2020. This is wishful thinking.
