They didn't let anything brew, they didn't know anything at any point, and they don't know anything now so the second that Phil Spencer shut this all down with the SAD and Scarlett comments they began writing up their PR bullshit about how it was cancelled etc. Their lifeblood, jobs, credibility hinges on this shit and they've been wrong the whole time. Yea.. but my issue is that if they can't strike down the rumors that were already the topic of conversation after they get that information learning that it is no longer accurate.. then that's a problem because they are attempting to control/create a narrative. Only after Phil comes out and says it's nonsense and not the case... or no longer the case.. then they act like they've known for a long time. All that conversation was for nothing.. and they "apparently" knew that... If these same "insiders" that people like Zhuge allow to post and make claims on their sites are wrong about something.. or if there's reason to doubt the information, it should be that fuckheads job to inform the users of the site that they have outdated info. To me it makes no sense that one of them (either Matt or Zhuge) wouldn't strike down that rumor after learning that it was no longer the case. They allowed those 2 others to continue to make claims about Lockhart right up to before E3.. That's bullshit. That proves to me that either they didn't ever know and are trying to "corroborate" each other in saying that they knew for a while... or they knew and just wanted people to waste their fucking time talking about bullshit they knew was no longer true. Why does it matter to you so much that Microsoft made the right move by canning that POS? There was no bad information, it was just old information because Microsoft changed their plans. We already knew PS4's specifications before PlayStation Meeting 2013, but know one picked up on it until it was all confirmed. People went back to the original leak, and we're like "damn this leak was right the whole time!". It was already spilling over that Lockhart got canned by several other outlets before they chimed in (which was today). I don't think these people have a responsibility to leak or share any information and no one should hold them accountable either. People take this way way too seriously. It's just conversation, speculation and console warring. To me this is exciting times. I like the speculation, console warring and conversation around new baseline hardware for next gen.
