‘Matrix 4’ Officially a Go With Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss and Lana Wachowski (EXCLUSIVE)

Get ready to re-enter the Matrix.

Lana Wachowski is set to write and direct a fourth film set in the world of “The Matrix,” with Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss reprising their roles as Neo and Trinity, respectively.

Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures will produce and globally distribute the film. Warner Bros. Picture Group chairman Toby Emmerich made the announcement on Tuesday.

“We could not be more excited to be re-entering ‘The Matrix’ with Lana,” said Emmerich. “Lana is a true visionary — a singular and original creative filmmaker — and we are thrilled that she is writing, directing and producing this new chapter in ‘The Matrix’ universe.”

In addition to Wachowski, the script was also written by Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell. Wachowski is also producing with Grant Hill. Sources say the film is eyed to begin production at the top of 2020.

Guess that rumor from a month ago ended up being completely true.

And Sony has kicked Marvel out from producing future Spider-man movies with Tom Holland.

Disney-Sony Standoff Ends Marvel Studios & Kevin Feige’s Involvement In ‘Spider-Man’

EXCLUSIVE: Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige won’t produce any further Spider-Man films because of an inability by Disney and Sony Pictures to reach new terms that would have given the former a co-financing stake going forward. A dispute that has taken place over the past few months at the top of Disney and Sony has essentially nixed Feige, and the future involvement of Marvel from the Spider-Man universe, sources said.

This comes at a moment when the last two films Kevin Feige produced broke all-time records — Disney’s Avengers: Endgame became the highest grossing film of all time, and Spider-Man: Far From Home this week surpassed the James Bond film Skyfall to become the all time highest grossing film for Sony Pictures.

Sources said there are two more Spider-Man films in the works that are meant to have director Jon Watts and Tom Holland front and center. Unless something dramatic happens, Feige won’t be the lead creative producer of those pictures.

There is a lot of webbing here, but it all comes down to money, and it’s easy to understand why both sides refused to give ground. Disney asked that future Spider-Man films be a 50/50 co-financing arrangement between the studios, and there were discussions that this might extend to other films in the Spider-Man universe. Sony turned that offer down flat, and I don’t believe they even came back to the table to figure out a compromise. Led by Tom Rothman and Tony Vinciquerra, Sony just simply didn’t want to share its biggest franchise. Sony proposed keeping the arrangement going under the current terms where Marvel receives in the range of 5% of first dollar gross, sources said. Disney refused. UPDATE: Sony insiders counter that Rothman did offer compromises but Disney decline.

I dunno. It seems like Disney was the one trying to strong-arm Sony, you would imagine that Disney keeping the merchandising rights to the movies would've been sufficient revenue, but I guess Disney wanted more.

Sony owns the Spiderman IP. Disney basically wants Sony to pay for the production, but have them split the profits.

Sony doesn't own the Spiderman IP.... Marvel does.   Sony purchased the rights to the Spiderman moviesz whenever that expires in a million years... Marvel would never give it back after this shit Sony pulled.

I would imagine that Marvel overseeing a really likable and popular Spiderman that can cross-over into the MCU movies is enough of an incentive to not try and push the issue here with Sony.

This is Sony's highest grossing-movie, and their movie division isn't very strong right now, why try to strong-arm Sony is giving up HALF of their revenue for this one movie, when Spiderman/Tom Holland can help you in several MCU movies?

That hurts Marvel/Disney more over the long run. There's no more Iron Man and, let's face it, there's no Captain America, either.

The next Avengers movie needed to have Spiderman in it because the X-men aren't going to be ready and Thor/Black Panther isn't enough star power.

No it hurts Spiderman.

Spiderman only rebounded because he wae included in the avengers movies.

The last three Spiderman movies were trash before Sony collaborated with Marvel (Spiderman 3, Amazing Spiderman 1 and 2).... now that Sony ended that relationship there is no more MCU connections.... Spiderman movies will now go back to being Junk.

X-men will be ready it will be the real avengers team, including Fantastic four - minus Spiderman... Spiderman will be excluded from the MCU.
