Gays5 now down to 18th most played on Xbox Live, fading into irrelevancy further with each day

Remember when someone said that the point of GP is to keep games alive for long period of times:freeman:

The truth of the matter is that GP and sub models actually encourage you to just either sub on for a month to play what you want or to continually play different stuff to make the sub feel worthwhile.

Meanwhile, purchasing a game for $60 actually has a person more inclined to commit to playing it to make their purchase feel worthwhile

I mean... it's getting beat by some random baseball game, Out of the Park Baseball 20, for fuck sake. :drake:  It's crazy how Microsoft literally killed what was once considered a massive IP.

and before Dyno comes in trying to defend it with excuses of 'duh, it's main platform is xbox or Game Pass PC',

Rise of the Tomb Raider, which is also on Game pass and on xbox and PC but also on PS4. Is a game with only a SP so no MP to keep numbers long term and is also from 2015.

Even RoTR is above it in 170th place with 1000ish players :D

You're functionally retarded, Gears has virtually no PC history or community as a result not to mention GamePass... Even in light of the game having no attachment point for the PC community people still bought it when it could be had for a few dollars.

It's not an excuse, excuse means I'm trying to justify some kind of fault, there is no fault. There's circumstances surrounding this release which cannot be overlooked. Intentionally trying to overlook them and hinge them on a level playing field with a product not released under these circumstances is disingenuous, and that's exactly what you are.

  • Tomb Raider has been on PC since its inception including every subsequent release.
  • Rise of the Tomb Raider released on PC as a flat paid sale, no other options for acquisition.
  • Rise of the Tomb Raider has 2,000,000 - 5,000,000 owners on Steam
  • PC GamePass is still in Beta and was only recently added to PC, the vast majority of people partaking in RotTR will have been traditional purchasers or players already long engrained in this 4 year old release.

  • Gears of War had a limited release on PC in 2007 and suffered even more so because of Games for Windows Live
  • Gears of War 2, 3, and Judgment were not on PC
  • Gears of War Ultimate Edition came out in 2015 possibly interesting some of the people who played the original on PC but was entirely relegated to the Windows Store which is widely criticized
  • Gear 4 & 5 released in succession on PC still absent of 2, 3 and Judgment so there's still no reference point for players not to mention Gears 4 again only released on the Windows Store
  • Gears 5 has 100,000 - 200,000 owners on Steam
  • Gears 5 was available for direct purchase for $79.99 or $59.99 respectively, or via a heavily marketed push for a GamePass subscription for $2-$15

Apples to oranges baby brain, not only in the underlying engrained level of which the PC community is attached to these two products but also the delineation in which they released.

You're having a very "hurr durr" kind of moment here, best you shut the fuck up.

It's not dead at all, like not even remotely. Matches parse quickly, they're varied, plenty of people are hosting custom games. It's very much alive.

Dude... 800 people on Steam...

Shit is dead. :francis:

There's NO WAY a MP game like Gears should be 18th on Xbox and 800 people on Steam... especially considering Gamepass is a thing and the barrier to entry is lower than it's ever been.
