Another high-profile departure at 343 industries/ Halo Infinite: This time it's the lead-producer of the game

Cyberpunk's creative director left the project, where are the alarm bells? Amy Hennig and Justin Richmond left Naughty Dog late in Uncharted 4's development, were people freaking out then?

No, of course he's not going to say.   Still though.. I think he gives a good hint as to why she left..  It seems like she wanted to work with her friend.. who likely got her the job there.

The final year of development for games of this magnitude is generally work on a mostly complete game. Audio comes into play, world tuning, animations, optimizations, motion capture and voice work etc. 

 

Halo Infinite is no doubt "done", it's just being bundled up right now. It's only 13 months from release. 

 

In an interview with Engadget, producer Richard Borzymowski confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 was indeed playable from beginning to end

 

August 24, 2018 (20 months from release)

 

ha. no…there is a whole game here (God of War). Just finished first full play through with the leads. very exciting milestone for us!

The irony of the guy that said that a lead producer's role is completed a year out from release calling someone else stupid. :D

 

This is 343's own statement less than 2 months ago:

 

Roles and responsibilities of various team members regularly evolve to meet the needs of a game, throughout development. We have recently had two changes to the Halo Infinite development team. Our Executive Producer, Mary Olson will now take charge of the Campaign team on Halo Infinite as the Lead Producer, utilizing her many years of experience at 343 to help craft a great campaign for fans.

 

Yeah, that really sounds like a 6 week temporary role :D

HAHAHA amazing example because people were freaking out and the full story has since be revealed and it was chaos. You really know nothing. Have you even read about UCIV's development? It was pure panic stations and the entire game got revamped after she left. Completely new story and them salvaging levels and one of the craziest crunch period ever. The game got delayed for numerous months too. So brilliant example genius :D

 

You're such a fanboy that I haven't even said that the game isn't gonna be good and you freak out because someone talked about your precious little Halo. 

It's gonna be fine but there are obviously things happening behind the scenes. Creative differences or whatever.

There could be major issues in which they have to make major decisions as to whether to alter or cut things from a game.

 

David Jaffe has said that God of War didn't come together until the very end of development. Up until then, it felt like a totally different game.

 

BUT..............maybe we can take solace that this Halo is just a rehash, so because of that repetitiveness, we shouldn't expect any surprises.

Who do you think organises all those tasks Dyno?

And organises the crunch that happens late on?

And prioritizes tasks and bug fixes and literally everything.

You literally proving yourself wrong because everything you have mentioned involves the lead producer of a game. They are practically the last person to have their role completed. A creative director has even less of a role late on in the game than the lead producer.

funny how when anyone from sony or their studios leave, you and jon are the first two posting it here with uh ohs and doom and gloom, but when someone at ms or their studios leaves, youre all "roles change, people come and go" while jon just ghosts the thread :freeman:

Game development does not have a bus factor of one, how many times must this be reflected on with games? My god... there's probably 20 producers, one is simply assigned the role as executive producer. They don't know any better, have more talent then or more vision than the others, there just needs to be one someone in that role.

This was the LEAD PRODUCER. Newly promoted lead producer at that. Again you are arguing against things no one is saying, of course she can be replaced and no doubt already has, every role can. That doesn't take away from the fact that your first post is pure and utter stupidity and also from the fact that this wasn't 'her role being completed'. A lead producer's role isn't completed till the game ships and even then many remain for initial patches. 

 

Game will be fine but there is clearly stuff happening behind the scenes.

okay...............and one of the biggest producers just left.  In fact the most disturbing line is "the entire Halo dev team is rallying"

 

If things are going well, then this should be a non-issue that doesn't get much attention from within the studio.  But, they had to have a "rally" of sorts in order to get the dev team focused on wrapping up this game?

 

Sounds like something a football team does during halftime in the locker when they're losing.

TL;DR: Title is super misleading, there is no creative dilemma inside the studio, and there’s no writing on the walls.

Doesn’t really clarify anything. He’s correcting ppl who thought she was a creative director which she wasn’t....we knew that. Doesn’t at all clear up why the newly appointed lead producer left 6 weeks into her role.

 

Again, not worried about the game but something is going on.

What’s to clarify, we know what a producer does. Well maybe not Dyno given his posts in this thread. But it doesn’t clear up anyone concerned that a newly promoted lead producer leaves after 6 or so weeks. On the back of the creative director. I know it’s not his role to say why, we never really learn why in most cases but his whole post doesn’t do anything. Read it and was like....um ok, we know.
