I will not give Disney a dime.  Not interested in anything they are showing.  Same with Apple+.  The only reason I continue to subscribe to Netflix is for my parents.  Amazon Plus well, I li

I remember struggling to watch Pokemon episodes through a scrambled signal because my mom didn't pay for Kids WB.

Shit, I don't think I even had a TV remote until I was a teenager. Getting up to change the channel. :D

Ha same. My mom wouldn’t let me keep video games at the house either. I had to  (gasp) go outside and play with my friends when I stayed with her.

You mean the first 8 seasons

Yeah maybe that's more accurate. There's still some solid episodes in the next few seasons...just skimming through them on the app. In my head I thiougt it was more consistently good at that point though.

I make an effort to see the new episodes of Watchmen every Sunday night, even if its like 1am at night, because it makes me feel like the way i was watching tv throughout the 90's and early 2000's.

Its what they call "Appointment Television."

Back then, you'd have to gather around at a specific time because you HAD TO watch the newest episode of Friends or Seinfeld or the Simpsons. Because if you didn't, the next day, you'd look like a fool at school or at work.

Now, shows like Watchmen and GoT compel you to watch that episode as close to its original timeslot because you don't want to get spoiled by anything you might read online.

I remember one of the most cleverest things that was invented too late was VCR+. Basically, VCR manufacturing companies had developed a system for easily scheduling a VCR to record a program, and they had to get VCR makers on board to integrate this programming system into their products, so it probably required more circuitry in order to have this functionality.

Basically, they invented a 6 digit code system for easily having your VCR be ready to start recording and stop.  The 6 digit codes would be found in TV guide. Assuming you had your VCR plugged in, and set the clock/date correctly on it, and had a blank VHS cassette already inside and re-wound, all you had to do was enter the 6-digit code in your VCR and it would automatically know what day and what time to start recording, and when it would stop.

But they didn't invent that until the 90's, and within 10 years TiVo would start taking over.

Just got my free year with Verizon. Already have a samsung tv app. Almost everything major streams in 4K including Star Wars and Marvel movies and even their animated classics like The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, and Toy Story. I’ll check out The Mandalorian tomorrow.
