Who the fuck wants a WEAKER system to release LATER in the gen. Plus how will older games run. It honestly sounds like shit. The APUs are finalised at this point, only because the final SDKs with the actual hardware will release 3-4 months before launch doesn't mean the APUs aren't set in stone. Aza... you don't get it dude.. There's enough on the hardware side alone that could change between dev kit specs and retail specs... so the dev kit specs mean NOTHING atm. That means that anything these insiders are hearing, is based off dev kit specs. We all know that the actual specs of the kits are only one aspect. The tools and support documentation are the other. Sony seems to be at a different point (further along) than MS in both respects. What that tells us is that devs currently can get more out of the dev kit hardware on the PS5 than they currently can on the Scarlett side. That doesn't speak to the final power of these systems AT ALL. Like I said before... Sony probably has dev kits with closer to final hardware in them than MS does. Thus the discrepancy in current performance. MS may be more comfortable with developers using PC dev kits until closer to reveal/launch as to not reveal anything AND allow them to change or adjust spec as necessary... this is important because it means that DEVS themselves wouldn't know the full power yet.. Actually I wouldn't be surprised if cooling, the box and clocks are pretty much finalised as well. We're 11 months away from launch, that's nothing at this point. That was a different time with different production schedules and technologies. These things are dependent on so many variables... While you're right that it's getting close and they're likely just tweaking... that leaves the SDK and dev kit hardware as the more important differentiating factors. Sony is further ahead atm.. so until we get closer to launch and devs get better kits from both, we're not going to know, and it's all just speculation. Quote Link to post Share on other sites
