The Witcher Netflix series is receiving early praise, makes "Game of Thrones look like two drunks fighting"

I knew the Game Of Thrones comparisons would backfire, and im sure that impacted the reviews too. Witcher was never going to have the same production quality.

But hopefully its popular enough that they'll be able to up the budget for the next season.

I just finished the pilot. While it doesn’t have GoT’s epic feel and cinematography, the sword combat (the market to be exact) is badass! But yeah, it’s no GoT. Not even close lol.

Yeah everyone speaking about the project really does sound like they care greatly. Especially Cavill who really wanted the role. Everything is sounding great!   Regarding the comparison to G

We can enjoy the Witcher for what it is.... but it doesn't come close to GOT.

It doesn't need to be compared to GOT because then people go in with unrealistic expectations and end up disappointed.

So far its looking as if the first EPISODE of GOT has higher production values than the ENTIRE SEASON of the Witcher combined. :drake:

Ya 2 eps in. The production is definitely on a different level in GoT. Still, I’m enjoying The Witcher.

.... I actually fell asleep during the first episode of the Witcher.....the CG effects look straight to VHS cheap 🤮

You don't feel transported to that world....it feels like you're watching a leaked copy of a show before they add the final post production effects.

I'll give it another shot next time im bored.

LOL, Entertainment Weekly admitted that they only watched 3 episodes out of 8, and gave it a zero score.

Nothing backfired.

And especially considering how its barely the first weekend, and how much different tv is today compared to 10 years ago, Witcher is easily a success.

The comparison to GoT mentioned in the OP was clearly referring to the combat.

That one scene in the first episode of Witcher skullfucks 8 seasons of fight scenes in Game of Thrones............and you know it.

No it doesn't

GOT has movie like set pieces, grand battles and production values that dwarf the Witcher.

Witcher has middle school play props in 2019, that swamp was a flat picture for crying out loud:sabu:

you're changing the subject...........because this thread is correct.

Actual combat scenes are better in Witcher.

Its okay to pounce on the CGI, that's basically an admission that the show is good and the only thing to complain about is the special effects.

That's because Netflix put most of the money in the most important special effect of them all:

Absolute. Unit.

Alot better than a show that seems mostly comprised of cinemax softcore porn actors.

Pointing out the various ways the Witcher on Netflix is worse than GOT is pretty much on topic.

58% compared to 90% sums it up nicely :tom5:

There are no "various ways"

All I hear is "CGI, production values". That's the only complaint.

LOL I just pointed out that EW got busted only watching 3 episodes before making their review. Keep running to other subjects.

The show is a success, and unlike Game of What?, actually faithful to the books.

Yes Various ways.

Cast

Story

CGI

Overall Production Value

Critical acclaim

and we can safely say that The Witcher ratings won't sniff what GOT did.

58% :sabu:

Nope, nobody is criticizing the cast, or the story.

Just production values, which include the cgi.

Nice try., and thanks to EW, that metacritic score is completely irrelevant.

THe most relevant thing would be the GoT defenders clearly acting threatened by this show.

:blessed:The Witcher always wins:blessed:

Compared to GOT dufus... stay on topic.

On it's own the Witcher on Netflix is a fine straight to VHS show that you binge watch on a weekend and forget about it.   A decent show.

But... compared to GOT... the Witcher on Netflix falls short. :tom5:

Compared the GOT, the combat rapes it.

Compared the GOT, the show is a better adaptation.

The Witcher story has plenty of praise, on the same level as the GOT stories.

Sorry, but that's the truth.  The Witcher is a success.

The Game of Thrones tv is a botched failure...........let me know if Netflix's Witcher botches it like GOT did.:reg:

Netflix botched Witcher in the first scene..... card board cut out as a swamp :sabu:

Your OP was based around reviews...... and now that all the reviews are in.... show is rated at 58%.....Yikes

Oh it absolutely is.

I don't fully blame the tv show-runners, either.  Because its not 100% their failure.

Its also a sign that G.R.R. Martin failed to finish his story.

They tried to make up the lack of story with action scenes. For the final 2-3 seasons.

No.......production values do not tank a well-made story.

Just like production values cannot SAVE an unfinished story.:reg:

Botched.  And its forever botched, and they will never be able to undo what they botched.

Thankfully for The Witcher showrunner..........she has completed trilogies (multiple) of books that are fully completed.

The most successful show in history critically and commercially - Botched :grimaceleft:

Straight to VHS CG and middle school production values coupled with 58% rating - great success :lemming:

Congratulations Jehurey.... you have turned into the lemming of TV shows.

You sound like DynamiteCop arguing that 6.0 sea of Thieves is better than AAAe games:tom:
