In every industry things become standard eventually. Theres not a thing today that hasn’t got a feature that somebody else created.

 

I mean the analogue stick was a good solution for 3D games and it caught on, then we have dual analogues which everyone copied and now its the standard. Would you rather we didn’t have that and every new controller had to create something new? Which would be more offputting to consumers having no familiarity there.

 

The only one that really comes off as a knockoff is motion controls/PS Move. I mean it was done different but yeah sony jumped on board that train with little effort because it was the in-thing at the time.

 

Just look at the last pic you’ve posted. Sony didn’t copy 4 controller ports from the xbox, Dreamcast and N64 had it before then. The xbox controller was a knockoff of dreamcast too but nobody complains about that.

 

native lan support.....:| really. Imagine considering native lan support a ripoff now.

 

likewise for HDD. Just look at how games evolved. It had to become standard eventually, its just that microsoft were early with it coming from a PC background.

partychat? Literally everybody begged sony to add this. Just like everybody begged nintendo to drop friend codes and user gamertags.

 

if this chump had his way we’d be playing modern console games with a trackball now and 5 minute loading times. Also modern smartphones would be radically different. He’d stifle pretty much all of the progress in the tech industry
