Also hold back gaming how? If the thing does exist it appears it will be an exact clone of Anaconda in all measures except GPU which means games can be developed EXACTLY THE SAME bar a difference in resolution.

I'm pretty sure they aren't idiots and the specs will allow for competent scaling. But as always there will be devs half assing it by choosing the wrong resolutions, settings and it won't scale ideally, but both versions will be competent enough for the most part.

 

Anyways I don't like the sound of the thing tbh not for the graphics aspect, but because it will outsell the disc model like 3:1 and the physical market on XBox will be pretty much dead, as if gamepass alone wasn't hurting it.

Lockhart and Anaconda is getting annoying because the setup has validity in its logic. It can't be debunked as a stupid fake, but at the same time there are multiple reasons why it not happening makes sense.

Well I prefer that scenario as well. The Phil tweet from yesterday talking about getting Scarlett unit could be him addressing the rumours that are out now in subtle way.

 

But you got to admit if this thing can be 200 dollars cheaper than the high end model with all the downscaling of hardware, no drive, higher profits due to digital sales over physical. It's a hell of an argument for its existence.

 

Plus they could easily market this to low information consumers, one called XBox 720 and the other XBox 720 digital. And the casuals assume both are the same power.

 

 

Like the logic is there, there is no denying it.

My issue with the rumour is that the new rumours point to Lockhart launching in like holiday 2021. How it seems silly, how do they get older games to run on it. As well as this being only like 2 years away from a PS5/Scarlett Pro.

 

Lockhart Scarlett, Anaconda Scarlett and and X Scarlett on store shelves with 3 different performance profiles sounds like a cluster fuck.

Anyways if I had to bet on which scenario will play out. I think the more likely scenario is that Lockhart never happens.

Jim Ryan also hinted that Sony might do a hybrid console mixed with streaming and local hardware calculation and are looking into other options.

 

So if this thing is 2021, I think it's possible Sony might so their own Lockhart model. It's super lame but it kinda makes sense especially if next gen high end is 500.

 

Assuming this shit actually happens.

Not sure what it will be, but it's clear Sony won't get away with the PS4 bullshit were it didn't get a single price drop for 3 years.
