Platinum Games is also becoming a publisher now

Recommended Posts

Publishing and self publishing it seems. Full independence?

The following is Google translated:

Capital alliance with Tencent

The Company has received an investment from Tencent Holdings Limited and has formed a capital alliance. In this capital alliance, the independence of the Company has not changed, and the management will be led by the conventional management team.

By accepting this investment, we will strengthen our management base, and in the future we will work not only on game development but also on our own title publishing business. In addition, we will continue to pursue the creation of high-quality games unique to Platinum Games, with a view to global business development.

We look forward to platinum games in the future and thank you for your support.

January 7, 2020
Kenichi Sato, President"

@Remij_ said MS was acquiring them

Oh really?

So when their CEO was hinting last week about a "new phase"..........instead of me making the logical guess that he was talking about the way THEY personally do business in the video game industry and that they were probably going to do something that makes them more independent................they, in fact, were not acquired by Microsoft???????????

if you are a publisher, you are more independent.

You are literally receiving a larger percentage of the sales of your games than you would had your game been published by another company.

But.....nice attempt attempt avoiding the obvious point. Your prediction ended up being completely wrong.

My prediction indicated another company investing in them....  Wasn't THAT far off..  You just REALLY didn't like that it was MS.  You thought it could be them announcing a new engine for next gen ffs :mj:

Someone needs to pick up the Alice franchise again :(

What the hell happened to the recent game they were making? They announced it years ago but haven't heard anything since.

Now you're arguing just to argue:mjpls:

Platinum is referring to them being independent of Tencent.

As far as this deal goes it does give them more independence because they're now publishing their own games.

You predicted that MS would purchase them outright and they would become a first party dev.

This is literally the opposite of that as now they can develop and publish their own games.

No... actually they announced long ago that they were wanting to get into self publishing smaller titles.

The fact is that a company is investing in them... is a FUCK of a lot closer to what I said.. than it is to "they're announcing their next gen engine"..

A huge company like Tencent investing in them IS a new stage for the entire company... not announcing a next gen engine

What does a next gen engine have to do with your prediction of MS buying them outright being wrong? :sabu:

all that means is that you and whoever said that were both wrong.
