Rumor: Cyberpunk 2077 delayed because current gen consoles aren't powerful enough to run it

Is that what you said?

I say the trailer they showed off in 2019, looked like an absolute downgrade from the trailer shown in 2018.

Which is why I said then, and I'll say it again, current (dinosaur) game systems are holding the game back.  From 2018 to 2019 they clearly dialed back the graphic detail of the game, perhaps to ensure it's current gen game system compatibility.

Perhaps the delay announcement is acknowledgement that CD Project Red, has now realized their dilemma they are in.

They should just fork the PS4 and XB1, and focus on PC, and the next generation game systems.

CDPR always downgrades. Its like you are forgetting what they originally showed Witcher 3 looking like LOL

Xbox One getting BTFO in this thread     Jon wants to fight with anyone who says otherwise.. but like a good friend Xbox is holding him back

They should clearly release the PC version now. Then a few weeks after make MS create the first ever xbox one x exclusive, destroying their entire strategy they've built for years leading into a new g

Ps4s shitty cpu is most likely the culprit

What did they originally show?   I wasn't a follower of Witcher until the Netflix series, and then I bought Witcher 3, that is a 5 year old game now.

They showed a massive downgrade

Never said that wasn't the case, Berry.

Which means that bandwidth issues would be more pronounced in this game, than even Red Dead or Witcher 3.

The only way to fix that is to optimize bigtime, or design the game world in such a way that it hides the environment in a clever way so that it streams in.

In fact there was a Digital Foundry video for Wolfenstein 2 for the Switch in which there's an outside area and the Switch version has a wall placed so that it doesn't have to render alot of the far-away background area.

Found the part where they showed the example:

So you think the Xbox version will have walls, and the ps4 version wont, lol

jon no longer gets to use rumors for anything since that's how he's spinning Xbox being the reason it was delayed.

I can use rumors, just as you can. Doesn't mean they are factual, in either case. Also doesn't mean they aren't, until proven. Why is a sheep in a CB thread?

It does fly, as I said most games will not be as ambitious as CyberPunk. Can you name any other?

You could say every game is being limited by XB1/PS4 .

There is clearly a base line, that's not what im saying. Yet you refuse to listen.

I cant wait to see all of these PS5 games , like Gearboxs game, that couldn't work on an Xb1/ps4 lol

no it doesnt fly, and cyberpunk is proof - in development for xb1 -> being constrained by xb1

"most games wont be as ambitious" doesnt fly either because some will or be demanding in other ways.

why would you want to limit game design on ALL games and make the baseline even LOWER for no reason whatsoever? because ms told you so. :tom:

What are you talking about????????

Not necessarily, because it probably has to do with bandwidth, and that requires more work on the Xbox One because they have a unique CPU that requires special coding to utilize all of the potential bandwidth.

The PS4 has no such issues, it just straight-up has more available memory.

So this could also be an issue for the Xbox One S, at which point CDPR needs to actually optimize it because that is the most common model.

CDPR may end up having to put up gigantic walls in the game world to just make it easier on themselves and help with easing the load-in of the open world. And if they do that with the Xbox One version, for the sake of parity, they'll do it on the PS4 version......which means it will also appear that way in the PS4pro/XBX versions. All of those versions get fucked because they designed it for the lowest-common denominator.

This is a clear preview of the problem that will be happening in the future when Microsoft made their announcement that their first party games through 2020-2021 will still be designed for last-gen Xbox One systems.

Are you just flat-out not reading entire parts?

More and more people on this forum are now (correctly) assuming that the last-gen versions of these games are going to get gimped. Probably because of the base Xbox One version.

The people who were always planning to play this game on PC already knew since 2018 that the console versions were going to be significantly gimped.

What people are also making a point is that this is a preview of what Xbox first-party is going to have to deal with with their cross-gen games.

This is the very reason why NOBODY really wants cross-gen game development.

Which ones? In first year of PS5 release. They technically couldn't be and ill let you think of why. Its easy.

I don't want game design to be limited. I also think it would be dumb to lock games off of XB1 like Halo Infinite that are most likely COMPLETE on that console. If the games have been in development for years on XB1 then why block them ? Makes ZERO sense.

The only PS5 game shown, could easily be done on PS4. Hell, there are Ps4 games that look better.

Now if games that just started dev, like HB2, end up on Xbox1 then that's when a problem arises.

Well CDPR said they are not working on a NG version. You don't believe that, but you do believe this unofficial rumor?

MS first party WONT have to deal with this because the games they are referring to are most likely complete or nearing completion, Like Halo Infinite for example.

Devs want cross gen development, $$

They're lying. Nobody believes them.

Developers are not going to get financially rewarded for gimped games. The only exceptions would be highly anticipated games that can survive through that period and still be popular.

Halo Infinite was designed for Xbox One, and then up-ported to Scarlet. They are dealing with this.

One way to deal with it will be to say that its a game that runs on the next-gen system, but it doesn't really look like its pushing the type of next-gen graphics or design that is expected.

If there is a Killzone game coming out for the PS5 at the same time, and it has alot more NPCs, and environmental objects, and particles and tons of phsyics, and Halo Infinite doesn't have that........people are gonna notice.

You can try and convince people and say "Don't worry Scarlet can do all that stuff as well as the PS5"..........but where's the proof if they don't see it in the premier Xbox game?

halo infinite is a special case, thats a current gen game ms delayed to sell next gen consoles like zelda twilight princess and botw.

its every 1st party game for up to 2 years after that being last gen/cross gen  thats a bigger issue.

So you call them liars, but only when it benefits your argument? Ok Berr...

I don't any launch PS5 game, is going to be much better if any better than what Halo looks like.

Up to 2 years. That doesn't mean 2 years. That doesn't mean from XSX launch.

I call them liars because there is no reason for them to delay this game, unless they were planning to put MORE work into optimization.

Optimization for the PS4/XBO versions already started in 2019, it should have. This big giveaway was that somebody asked the CDPR boss a question about whether this new delay will mean that there will be "no crunch".

And the CDPR boss said that Crunch time is already underway, and they won't be able to avoid it. (this statement is relevent because CDPR has said before that they were going to try and do everything they could to avoid putting their team through crunch time).

So they delayed the release of the game........but they just let it be known that their dev team is actually in Crunch longer than ever. It doesn't make sense.

And that's because they're not working on two versions of the game. They now expanded it to include next-gen versions. That's why they're lying.

Rockstar never told you there was a next-gen version of GTA5 coming when they were selling you GTA5 for X360 back in September 2013, did they?
