I think Sony got caught off guard with the PS5 :francis:

Dude... how can you not realize what the fuck you're being told?  Everything about the design of BOTH system is designed around minimizing the size of data stored in the RAM, as well as augmenting that RAM with super fast storage which can swap that ram out much faster.

It's not even close... you simply cannot compare it to current consoles.

Listen to what Sony developers are telling you....  this will enable things never before possible.

What does it matter how fast your SSD when RAM bandwidth feeds the GPU not the SSD. You can have a 100gbps SSD it won't change the bandwidth bottleneck.

And no SSD no matter how fast can compensate for a small 2.5x usable RAM increase.

I think yous are all ignoring a gigantic factor. We are all acting like this is going to be a PS5 v Series X where XSX is the standard box for xbox and that is where it's market share is going to be.

So you think Sony was stupid to push absurdly high SSD speeds with such little RAM-APU bandwidth?

You do realize that with better compression, developers can store that information in smaller chunks which don't require as much bandwidth to get to the APU, right?

Secret sauces never deliver. A 2.4gbps isn't outperforming a 5.5 Gbps SSD. 448gbps RAM isn't out performing 520gbps.

There is no magic comeback. Sony had a weaker system. XBox had a lamer SSD. It's that simple.

Well it's not secret sauce because the the SSD itself isn't the whole story. It's what the software is and how it compresses data, how wide your bus is, how your memory interacts with the SSD and how much bandwidth the memory has.

Everything about Microsoft's system is highly intentional, they could have constructed a drive like Sony's but they didn't, and there's a reason they didn't.

Yeah, it didn't fit their budget. SImple as that.

Outside of forum lalala land discussions about irrelevant magic unicorn ssds and gen defining 15 percent power differences. The real thing that caught Sony off guard is their 450+ BOM when they are trying to repeat the magic of 399.

It's funny how ps5 being a weak pos has changed your  tune from 6 months ago

" I cant wait to see the lemmings damage control " to " why are we still system warring ?

CrAZAy Monkey LOL

Yeah the difference is so staggering that everything will run on the 4tflop Lockhart with 12 gigs of RAM. Games totally not possible on PS5.

Yes.. with paired back graphics and effects.. like PS5 :hehe:

It's going to be hilarious when Microsoft starts pumping out 5s and 6s; then dries up 2-3 years before the end of the generation... just like with Xbox 360 and just like now with Xbox One. :rofls:

Eh, didn’t read. I think you genuinely do know your hardware remij, but not enough to make a serious opinion about how these two are going to stack up against each other.

On the other hand mark Cerny is clearly a genius who’s spent the past few years asking developers what they want in the console. I get the impression there’s going to be a marginal gap between these two and the PS5 is going to come on cheaper.
