madmaltese★ 2,555
Legit though, BotW would be a 7.0 without the Zelda name and on a non ninty console.

Popular Post Hot Sauce 2,729
#2 Red Dead Redemption 2 If molasses were a video game it would be Red Dead Redemption 2. A game so fucking slow and boring it has an auto-follow mechanic because the game’s testers kept falling asleep. Fans will screech about it being a “slow burn” and chasing realism, but the game’s approach to “realism” is inconsistent and superficial. You’ll have to open the drawers of a dresser individually and each one comes with its own zoom in, open the drawer, then zoom back out animation sequence that makes looting a chore, but the game’s penalty for never eating a piece of food is only a 5% drop in stats. You’ll be limited to carrying one animal carcass on your horse, but you found and killed that animal using Witcher vision and bullet time. Rockstar employees will be subject to period specific working conditions, but you’ll have to pay modern prices for the game. They just always go with the shitty version of realism. “Well, duh, managing hunger is shitty and it’d be way too hard to hunt animals in the game without some gameplay systems designed to help you.” Exactly, and the developers knew that. They knew survival systems wouldn’t be enjoyable to regular people, just the weirdos that mod Bethesda games because their lives are so devoid of responsibility that carrying around dozens of pieces of food is somehow rewarding. At least those require consideration from the player and add to the gameplay, though. What the fuck does a drawer opening animation that plays out slower than opening one in real life add to the game? It’s all bullshit to waste time. It’s not that the pursuit of realism is bad, but Red Dead Redemption 2’s method of doing it is just fucking lazy. You’ve also got the usual Rockstar thing going on with having a huge open world just for the sake of having one and fuck building meaningful content for it. I’m sure somebody is furiously typing to yell at me about all the emergent quests that give life to the world. Yeah, you’ll run into characters in the world that have some back story but so did my 2nd grade math textbook and I had way more fun helping Johnny count the candies that Samantha owes him than I did riding some widow whose horse died back into town. 1 2 1

Delita 698
I agree with rdr2 but then I also agreed with gtav. Honestly ever since gtaiv rockstar has been severely lacking. Their games just kinda suck now.

The Mother Fucker 26
RDR2 is a gem. I need to get back to that and finish it. So many great games on PC.

Sabo 442
I feel this way about all Rockstar games. I can see why people dig them though. I'm just too much of a 'gameplay is king' guy so I can't fully appreciate the thing that Rockstar games shine at- creating a believable world. madmaltese★ 2,555
If anything he is being very king to RDR2. Huge story missteps with one chapter in particular just outright ludicrous. A main story where you have zero input on Arthur's action but then side quests and an openworld that allow you to act like you want making a huge jarring bipolar-esque main character where in one scene he is being kind and the very next story cutscene is the biggest prick. The biggest most alive open world ever............then a mission design structure that is more linear than super mario bros. Oh did you try to flank, sorry Mission Failed. Oh did you try to go left when this mission needs you to specifically only go right, Mission Failed. The world and the game design are so at odds with each other that it feels like some Frankenstein monster of 2 seperate games. This is why you need to make a choice of what design philosophy you want and then stick to it. I hate on BotW but at least their freedom in gameplay transferred to every part of the game. Or if you want a full narrative driven game with a character arc then is being told not controlled then do a Last of Us that is a linear game. Anyways the more time passes the more the technically impressive stuff from RDR2 fade away and all I remember is it's numerous and huge faults.

TLHBO 2,162
Halo needs to be number 1. That game set the fps genre back 10 years and ruined games in general with its shitty recharging health.
