I feel this way about all Rockstar games.

I can see why people dig them though. I'm just too much of a 'gameplay is king' guy so I can't fully appreciate the thing that Rockstar games shine at- creating a believable world.

If anything he is being very king to RDR2.

Huge story missteps with one chapter in particular just outright ludicrous.

A main story where you have zero input on Arthur's action but then side quests and an openworld that allow you to act like you want making a huge jarring bipolar-esque main character where in one scene he is being kind and the very next story cutscene is the biggest prick.

The biggest most alive open world ever............then a mission design structure that is more linear than super mario bros. Oh did you try to flank, sorry Mission Failed. Oh did you try to go left when this mission needs you to specifically only go right, Mission Failed. The world and the game design are so at odds with each other that it feels like some Frankenstein monster of 2 seperate games. This is why you need to make a choice of what design philosophy you want and then stick to it. I hate on BotW but at least their freedom in gameplay transferred to every part of the game. Or if you want a full narrative driven game with a character arc then is being told not controlled then do a Last of Us that is a linear game.

Anyways the more time passes the more the technically impressive stuff from RDR2 fade away and all I remember is it's numerous and huge faults.
