stupid, xflopdone x was already getting poorly optimized ports compared to PS4 and they plan to release a tard version again. They haven't learned a thing, Xflop dies next gen.

This rumour just won’t die, guess it is legit. Fanboy BS aside, i think this is a really bad move by MS - if Sony just has one console. Its just going to confuse customers, and it makes me think the series x is going to cost a small fortune.

I think if the PS5 is priced somewhere in between the two Xbox consoles but has performance much closer to the series x (which we know it does), it will dominate next gen.

Lockhart is not going to be $300.  Its going to be $400, and that will benefit Sony.

In fact, it may be the best scenario for Sony to get away with charging $499.

Lockhart is going to be responsible for people NOT PAYING ATTENTION to Series X. So the average person will see:

4TF, 1080p-only Lockhart at $399 vs 10TF, 1440p/2160p PS5 at $499.

They'll say that its worth it to pay more for the PS5, or they will save a little more money and wait until they can get a PS5.

If Series X comes out at over $500 ($549, or $599).........Sony played their hand perfectly.

If Series X were to come out at $499, they'd be shooting themselves in the foot by cannibalizing Series S sales. They're going to be $200 apart, and that CPU and memory/storage components simply does not look feasible at $299.

The idea that there will be differences in ray tracing not just resolution is a major red flag

Itll still probably do ray tracing better than ps5

PS5 is going to hit that $399 sweet spot and take off like wildfire, while series x will be a niche product for tech enthusiasts.

Series S will be weak, suck ass, probably cost the same as PS5, and be forgotten.

Doesn't take a genius to see how this pans oput, pS5 once again gets rallied behind by devs as the 'main' platform for multiplats, Sony keeps putting out AAA-AAAE, and Japan keeps giving them defacto exclusives as usual, especially if they're higher end games that can't run on Switch.

Playstation being in the middle will only benefit them. Ms messed up if they give them the middle .

I can’t see a scenario were the PS isn’t in the middle, unless Sony are planning two PlayStation five models which I doubt.

LMAO you guys... MS is 100% targeting Sony's price with the XSX.  Why people think Series X is so much more expensive than PS5 is beyond me.  The controller will be cheaper to produce, likely cheaper cooling, cheaper storage SSD.... the list goes on.  They're both similar in BOM... and MS definitely has the ability to price the system at whatever Sony does with PS5... use your fucking heads.

Lockhart is meant to undercut PS5.... not give it a better value perception.

MS wants the 12TF vs 10TF marketing to work in it's favor with regards to value.

How low is Sony willing to go?  Because it seems to me like Sony is the one that's unsure what to do here... because if they had a solid plan and were executing that plan... they wouldn't be reacting so hard to what their competition is doing.

there's always a caveat with MS, because PHIL DOESN'T CARE OF YOU BUY THE CONSOLE! :rofl:

He's got the more powerful box this time, but it's because he'll rack up a tab of $600 in premium parts to do so. Oh well, it's a niche product, he doesn't care if you buy it: PC, gamepass, and Switch will pick up the slack when the games don't sell on xflop! :D

Lockhart is not going to be $200 lower than PS5.

That means lockhart is probably going to be at $399.

Lockhart cannot be $100 apart from Series X. It would make absolutely no sense, and would in fact probably end up undercutting Lockhart.

Lockhart and Series X must be $200 apart, or else Lockhart looks completly useless.

That means Lockhart is at $399 and Series X is OVER $500. Probably $549 to $599.

Lockhart will not be $299.

Series X will cost what PS5 costs... Lockhart will come under that.

That's the plan... It's going to be cheaper.. and appeal to people who only want or are happy with 1080p quality next gen games.

Lockhart is not be $100 apart, it would be a complete waste of an entry level system, the amount of people who would be enticed by it would cut down dramatically.

The only way Lockhart makes sense is if its $200 apart from Series X.

Lockhart will not be $299. You can do the rest of the math from there.

nVidia would never sell a xx60 GPU for a hundred dollars less than a xx80 series GPU. They'd be slowing down their own sales because they are not sold to the proper demographics.

lmao...  The idea isn't to have Lockhart be the main system you fool...  It doesn't need to entice everyone to buy it... it simply needs to be an option for those who want to save money and don't see the value in 4K just yet....

XSX = PS5

Lockhart = cheaper

That's it.
