We all know games are scored on a 70-100 scale. So GoT being an 84 and Mario being an 81 is a much larger gap than it appears as that 3 point difference is 10% of the scale. But it's actually even larger than that due to relative expectations, as we can see from the Gamespot reviews. Gamespot knows the PS4 is the home of the best games this generation and that those games can't be played anywhere else, so it has a higher standard of review scores than the Switch or PC. This is why GoT only has a 7/10 at Gamespot, but an 84 on Metacritic and Mario has a 8/10 on Gamespot and 81 on Metacritic. So even with this inarguable proof of different standards dragging the Metacritic score down, we can simply derive the non-PS4 score for GoT by multiplying the Gamespot score of Mario by that 10% difference discussed earlier for a real score of 8.8. Since Gamespot doesn't use decimals anymore, we just round to 9 and we can actually see that GoT is a 9/10.
