Microsoft discontinues xbox live yearly subscriptions

Recommended Posts

Why would this indicate removal of a paywall? They merged gold & game pass to make ultimate, and don’t want to discount it, so they’ll stop selling XBL Gold for $60 a year and rather $120 a year by forcing people to pay monthly. Then you compare the $120 vs $150 and realize you might as well spend the $150.

Paywalls are staying, Microsoft is discretely trying to up the price.

they probably don't want you to commit to 12 months of vanilla live when they're about to juice up the service by combining it with HoboPass, effective this november or whenever Suckies X launches.

Xbox live is free now no more paywall.

Gamepass will be optional $15 a month

so how are they going to make money if they can't sell hardware, can't sell games, and then cancel the one subscription that's keeping their business on life support?

Xbox Live will never be free. Get ready to subsidize more PC ports and services for the hermits.

Xcloud, Gamepass, and your CONSOLE ONLINE PAYWALL all in one package for the same price is my bet.

Gamepass alone has 10 million subscribers that's 100m revenue per month. Microsoft has like a quarter of a trillion dollars. They'll be alright.
