Not sure how likely it would be, but they are definitely interested... and if true.. holy shit this could be a MAJOR shakeup in the PC space.

Apple utilizing ARM CPUs as well as Nvidia in the PC space would force Microsoft to work on improving Windows on ARM.. it could really fuck Intel and AMD over.  x86 is getting long in the tooth and ARM could be the future.  Crazy stuff.

Can you imagine if Nintendo has already lined themselves up with the upcoming standard for CPU/GPU architecture?

Was ARM always an adequate alternative to x86, or has it just been recent advancement in ARM chipsets that have gotten people thinking that ARM could be the future?

If Apple switches to ARM, we're talking about 100% of the smartphone industry, Apple's computers, and the Switch. It probably would force Microsoft to start adapting Windows.

I'm down for it. Imagine the next switch :blessed:

Yep.  That would have HUUUUUUUUGE implications for future Nintendo hardware as well.  Nvidia designed CPUs and APUs..  This would put AMD, Nvidia, and Intel all on even ground.

Nvidia has been living down their x86 fuck up with Intel hoping for some day them to get big enough to get their hands in the CPU space.  Right now, with Apple changing to ARM because Intel can't keep to a schedule and fucked up with their 10nm process... this could be the literal perfect time for Nvidia to make their move.  They're bigger than ever, and markets are changing and expanding all the time.

Still though... as mentioned in the links.. it's not a sure thing by any means.  It could still prove to be too much for Nvidia, and there's all sorts of legal issues to work through... but Nvidia are obviously interested in pursuing this.  It would literally be a MASSIVE move.

ARM has come a long way.  There's nothing inherently worse about it.. it's actually better and more modern.  It's just that getting the industries to move to ARM is a huge challenge.  Apple though recently just gave Intel the boot and are making their own ARM based CPUs which will be much more efficient and more powerful as well.  That is a MASSIVE blow to x86 in itself.. Intel could be in major trouble.

If Nvidia gets ahold of ARM, then that, along with Apple making the move.. is enough to shift the industry.  Macs would be all ARM based... and Microsoft would be forced to support ARM with Windows.  It could cause a HUGE shakeup and Intel and AMD could get majorly fucked over.

It can't be understated just how much this would change the entire landscape.  Holy shit.
