That sounds like Lebanon. Unsure if its corruption or incompetence ruining peoples lives

All they'll need is confirmation it was the Government who messed up for a full scale revolution

Shit was already terrible there:

July 4th:

"It feels like a failed state’: Lebanon's crisis deepens as it awaits bailout"

The country’s collapse has led to meat and chicken prices tripling over the past fortnight, and scarcities of fuel and flour - amplified by the sale of state-subsidised supplies to neighbouring Syria where they get a better price for it, and sharply increasing hunger.

Protein has been taken off the menu at army barracks while ordinary Lebanese have resorted to selling furniture in order to raise enough money to buy food. Retail chains closed en masse during the week, and almost all the country’s hotels remain shuttered – hopes of a spike from summer tourism were dashed by the Covid-19 pandemic and rising fears about security across the country.

July 27th:

'I can see the despair on their faces': Lebanon's economy unravels

The country has defaulted on one bond payment and a second is due soon. A fire sale of state assets is being mooted as a fallback. After that, there is little left to trade, except human capital, which is leaving Lebanon en masse.

All the while, the political system blamed for much of the chaos remains at a standstill and reforms demanded of Lebanese leaders by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), in order to unlock aid, are being stonewalled because of the very threat they pose to a system built on patronage networks.

So yeah, definitely not looking too good.

time to bring back Christianity i guess :mjpls:

If you cared to read any of the articles, Lebanon is one of the most secular regions in the Middle East, and their corruption comes from cultural and historically related social system. Yes, Islam does play a role - also with regards to their culture and history; but this isn't some Binary system between Sunni and Shia.

Big Concepts :mjpls:

No way in hell 5 firework factories could do that.

It's just what was reported at that time lol. It seems to be much more sinister and this could cause a total revolution in the area.

One of my customers is a Lebanese christian forced from his home because of Islamic rule and christian persecution.  Beirut used to be the Paris of the middle east and became a shithole after Islamic rule took over.

As of right now, yes it can be boiled down to Shia vs Sunni. Iran and Saudi Arabia are fighting a proxy war in Lebanon.

There is no Islamic rule in Lebanon, they have to have a Christian President, Sunni Prime Minister and Shia Speaker of the House. The Lebanese christians also control the military and the banking sector. While they have a slight disadvantage in population, they still control the most influential parts of the country

except it wasn't that native person's opinion, he was adding his opinion and using the native person's credibility by including that anecdote.
