I bought a 100 year (solid) house, its great but I have solid brick walls on the inside which basically completely fucks up all phone and wifi signals. I've had some crazy fast speeds out of those powerline adapters, which amazes me because its basically sending signal down a relatively chunky gauge single core piece of copper rather than a Ethernet cable which has like, 8 or something individual cores.
