'Smart Delivery' requires Xbox Series X users to download full game

Recommended Posts

LMAO read this thread :mj:

Seems as though MS' 'Smart delivery' service cause people who insert a cross gen game (Like AC or Watch Dogs) to download the FULL Series X version prior to playing. The disc reads that you have a Series X and as such is just a license to download the series X version in full as it is not on the disc. So if you were to install the game while being offline you will only be playing the Xbox One version of the game :rawf:

Meanwhile on PS5 there is actual PS5 versions so if you buy AC on PS5 you just install it because that is the version on the disc.

No OP, just the version that isn't on the disc.

Look at the left side of the cover. If Series X is mentioned first, it should be the Series X version on the disc, if Xbox One is mentioned first, then the One version is on the disc.

WTF, I thought you could install it from the disc and then smart delivery would just patch the required stuff on top of it depending on what system you had.  LOL not so smart if you're essentially just downloading the game every time you want to install the game from disc. :D

Same thing. The disc holds one version only. How is that smart delivery. The idea was that a patch would upgrade you to what your system had, not that you had to do a full download for the version not on the disc. It's literally like buying a license code and downloading the game at this point.

LMAO exactly. It's literally just releasing one disc version that acts as a download license for every other version

Where did they ever say otherwise? Smart Delivery was always just about paying once for a game and having access to the best version of that game that your console could run.

What is Smart Delivery? It’s all about game ownership. Simply put, if you buy one version of an Xbox game that supports Smart Delivery, you'll always have access to the best version of that game later down the line no matter which hardware you're playing it on.

That means if you buy Halo Infinite on Xbox One, then later want to play it on Xbox Series X (or vice-versa), you can. Your one-time purchase means you'll have the best version possible of the game whichever Xbox console you choose to play on.

Xbox Smart Delivery works across both digital and physical versions of supported games. For a physical version, in some (if not likely all) cases you'll need an internet connection to download the console-specific version when you insert the disc, especially since some Smart Delivery titles (such as Gears 5 and Destiny 2) are available ahead of Xbox Series X launch.

Smart Delivery lets you buy a game for the Xbox One, with a Series X or S copy automatically included. If you upgrade your console later, Microsoft feeds the console the appropriate version of the game. Smart Delivery essentially means that you'll always be playing the latest, best-quality version of the game, and you only have to buy it once.

How? You still have to delete shit, I don't.

How does your brain come up with these stupid things.

no, your deal is you don't mind downloading alot, and you will have to delete alot of shit because your hardware will be filling up more than it needs to be.

you act as if the act of deleting is a laborous process. it isn't.

Downloading something once is not a problem, having to constantly delete things to make room for other things that you have to download is.

They're incomparable. You're a moron.

No it is comparable.

Once again...........you are trying to say that making three quick menu selections to delete something and then re-initiating a re-download is a laborous process.

Its not.

This is what you are left having to argue to make yourself feel better. Think about that for a second.

Coming home with a new console and AC and having a 46GB download over a 2GB patch before you start playing is a massive issue for many ppl globally. Not to mention if you aren't online you are literally buying the last gen version and there is zero access to the Series X version physcially.

We all have internet. You can download the game remotely even if you don't own it yet.

CoD is 185 GB's, 5/8 of the game data isn't even on the disc. None of this is a problem.
