Series X has a ton of new features which aren't being utilized yet... of course, just like PS5 has.. but Series X is the stronger machine. Sony's tools are simply farther ahead. MS... in their infinite wisdom, decided now was the time to change their dev kit from XDK to GDK using Game Core. Thus many developers essentially had to start from scratch to get things up and running. MS took a chance and waited longer for AMD's latest hardware, and thus tools and pipelines are behind. Sony on the other hand have built off of what they had with PS4, and thus it was immediately familiar to developers and they were able to get going faster. That's literally it. That's literally what explains what is happening currently with multiplat games. It lines up perfectly with the fact that devs were saying PS5's kits were further along.. and that Sony was readying PS5 for an earlier release but held off. It explains why their kits are ahead and why developers are more familiar and happier with the PS5 at the moment. I think you're grossly underestimating some of the hardware and features in the Series consoles. Literally none of it is being taken advantage of just yet. Lmfao.... that tools argument has been debunked by Devs... ON THE RECORD.

It wasn't even certified for use until April 2020... for PC only.. Xbox Series X didn't get certified until June 2020 with Series X... Game Core was PC ONLY up until mid 2020. They could "develop" with it.. since 2019.. but it wasn't close to ready.. Quote With the next generation of the Xbox console, Microsoft is working on a new development environment called Game Core. The environment is now available to developers building titles for the series X and series S (Lockhart) but it’s not quite finished yet and won’t be finished before the release of the upcoming consoles. Considering Game Core is all new, not everything will be ready for the launch of the consoles. While developers can now use the June 2020 release for games that will head to retail, features like “Multi-process games in Game Core” will not arrive until after launch. There is a work-around for this in the current release, so fret not that this means games can’t be multi-threaded. The takeaway here is that Microsoft’s Game Core is moving full-steam ahead and will be ready for launch later this year. But it’s not complete and there are quite a few bugs/optimization that need to be worked out before all the functionality meets the targeted spec sheet when the project was first started. Again...It's not finished yet.. The other thing that someone brought up is that PS5's CPU only has SMT on mode... which means there's 14 CPU threads working all the time. On Series X, there's SMT on and off modes. Could be that for simplicity's sake on Series X, they stuck with the 8c8t mode, while on PS5, they optimized the game for 8c16t. In our PC-based tests, having SMT enabled can deliver up to 30 per cent - or more - of additional performance in well-threaded applications. However, for launch titles at least, Microsoft expects developers to opt for the higher 3.8GHz mode with SMT disabled. "From a game developer's perspective, we expect a lot of them to actually stick with the eight cores because their current games are running with the distribution often set to seven cores and seven worker threads," explains Microsoft technical fellow and Xbox system architect Andrew Goossen. "And so for them to go wider, for them to go to 14 hardware threads, it means that they have the system to do it, but then, you have to have workloads that split even more effectively across them. And so we're actually finding that the vast majority of developers - talking with them about the their choices for launch - the vast majority are going to go with the SMT disabled and the higher clock."]

jehurey 3,227
And that's with the Xbox Series X purposely running its UI at 1080p in order to save performance and resources for its games.

jehurey 3,227
OFF THE RECORD, tho..............the PS5 is in deep development trouble, ohmagosh RE8 can't run at all. Devs, off the record, went out of their way to tell people who post rumors on Twitter something bad about their game that would hurt their sales. I'd absolutely believe that. jehurey 3,227
And remember, the PS5 version stays at 60fps because its CAPPED at 60fps. We don't how much higher than 60fps its actually running, but if it consistently stays at the 60fps cap, its because it is capable of producing more than 60fps in that moment.
