Nintendo paid 6 million to keep Monster Hunter Rise off of PS4/Xbone permanently, would have had to pay more to keep it off PC forever

Monster Hunter Rise will be forcibly ported to PC by the end of 2021, All because Capcom needs to leverage the communist China shithole, a country where consoles have a limited availability.

Capcom was recently subject to a serious hack which has thrown up a bunch of new information regarding future releases, including the upcoming Switch timed exclusive Monster Hunter Rise.

It's already been leaked that Monster Hunter Rise will be coming to PC later in 2021 – although Capcom is yet to officially announce this, we should add – but it's now been revealed that Nintendo paid "around $6 million" for timed exclusivity. Rise launches on Switch in March 2021 and is believed to be coming to PC in October.

Interestingly, other documents reveal that Capcom internally discussed the game being totally exclusive to Switch, which hints that Nintendo could have paid more money to totally lock Rise down – but Capcom was cautious about keeping the game on a single system. It is noted that the Switch version will be 'hard to sell' in China, but 'brand-linked' measures would make a PC release there a success.

Poor peasant ass, anti-freedom 3rd world countries are the reason why PC keeps getting its grimey meathooks on games. this needs to stop. we as gamers need to do something to prevent these games from going to PC, just because dirthole countries only game on PC.

Boycott this game on PC!

Of course the PC ver. was meant to be hidden like a bad habit, but capcom got hacked. Nintendo should receive some money back for Capcom's oversight.

Hopefully the PC version doesn't 'cheapen' the title or lower its quality, but we all know that's what usually happens.

Infuriating to see this time and time again.

No shit. It's pretty obvious there was some incentive for Capcom to not release another MH game for PS4/Xbox when World is their highest selling game of all time.

I'll play it on PC with maxed out graphics and actually good performance. Fuck Nintendo, and fuck that toddler's toy the Switch. :lul:

Whatever we need a real next generation PS5/X MHW2 that takes advantage of next generation hardware anyways. If MHW ran like shit on X and Pro, MH Rise will probably be some 540p Switch game.

Dat Salt 😂🤣

MHW used a different engine than what MH Rise will be using.   MHW struggling to run has no bearing on Rise.

Huh? I said it was pretty obvious there had to be an extra incentive, as in money.

6 million had nothing to do with it not being on Xbox and PS4.  That 6 million is a marketing deal/ timed Exclusive in relation to the Switch and PC.

PS4/Xbox was never in the works for Rise and it would cost more than 6 million to keep a game off PS4.

The game was Switch only (console side) from jump.

Bodycount threw in PS4/Xbox in his thread title but the documents say nothing of those consoles.

There is a PC version solely because of the Chinese market.  Consoles haven't fully penetration China... but PC gaming is HUGE there.
