Out of the 12 people who've walked on the moon only 4 are still alive

Is there any reason for any government space program to go to the moon, at this point in time?

I think the most important step is going to be building a legit space "dock" right outside of earth for refueling for trips to Mars.

There's been basically no human exploration since then. The moon has more surface area than Africa, I'm sure there's more to see. And we have much better technology now.

No, there really isn't much more of anything up there.

We already have samples, so whatever improved technology we have.............we can use it on the samples down here.

The most important thing about the Apollo missions was creating the methods for how to get to the Moon, how to land to land on the Moon, and then how to get back up to the Space module, and then how to return back to Earth.

You should watch HBO's miniseries From the Earth to the Moon, its fantastic. You will find out that the things that Astronauts did on the moon is not even within the top 5 most interesting things about the Apollo missions.

We need to aim for something that currently SEEMS impossible: Human Beings going to Mars, landing on Mars, and setting up a base on Mars, and being able to survive for extended periods of time on Mars.

the U.S gov't decided that space exploration takes the back seat to helping out bums and other minority group programs. unfortunately this won't change any time soon with budden in office.

LOL, you're an imbecile if you think its because the money went to limp-dicked bums like yourself.

At one point during the 60's, the Apollo Space Program was costing the United States roughly 4.5% of the entire country's federal budget. They will devote that much money to NASA, again.
