He does the better, smarter thing of unwrapping the tactics Tucker Carlson uses to hide his racism, because him and people like him think they have found the perfect way to talk in code. Its almost like the bad guy in a movie telling a district attorney, "definitely looks like I committed the murder, but you don't have the proof to nail me in court." Oliver absolutely nails it there at the end: Tucker sells his audience on the ideas that: Its the idea that this country is "fundamentally colorblind" That anyone who mentions race is just trying to start trouble That historic oppression is no longer relevant That, in fact, YOU (straight conservative white people) are the ones being oppressed The big existential threat to America right now is diversity. How many people on this very forum are 100%..........ONE-HUINDRED PERCENT parroting those same exact talking points right now? They take any piece of "culture war" news, and they type in their post "just more evidence of....." and they repeat one or two of those bullet points, verbatim.
