Pretty pathetic for a service that's hyped as the next revolution in gaming.

23M people paying $10 - $15 per month is pathetic?

lmao no....  Pathetic is PS Now's numbers after being on the market far longer.

Remember, GP isn't a primary source of revenue.. it's currently augmenting their other revenue streams.  And also keep in mind that gamers have to be the absolute most stubborn group of consumers with regards to change.  You are never going to have Netflix and Disney+ types of movement in the same amount of time.. because Physical games are still an extremely large part of how gamers consume games.

It's growing and growing.  They'll hit 30M by the end of the year.

I wouldn’t be surprised if 30 mil was hit by September.

Lmao you are retarded if you think that's pathetic

For something that is supposed to kill full retail/digital games in the next two years (according to Vini), it's pretty pathetic indeed. :D

Otherwise it's good but hardly something so exceptional it shakes the foundation of the market. It's like a revenue of 300m per month, it's a fraction of what the worldwide market represents in traditional games sales.

It's not designed to kill full retail.  It's supplamenental.  Not everyone can afford to buy every game just like not everyone can afford to go see or buy every movie so you have a service that supplaments that.

I think it’s more so that most of these games just aren’t worth $60.

Yeah , you're retarded.  23 million is a crazy big number and it's growth rate is also very good .

You can put whatever retarded spin you want on it,  but it just makes you look more retarded .

Yeah I agree with that. I was just trying to take a jab on Vini's statement that Gamepass is taking over the market and killing Playstation business as a whole. lol

i don't think david realizes that console manufacturers don't actually make much money from individual sales of games on their platform (especially if its retail). Gamepass is a pretty major success no matter how you look at it.

They make $10 in royalty at least per game, that's one month worth of GP. lmao, typical $60 retail business is way more lucrative.

GP is only a reality because MS has nearly infinite funds. Sony couldn't even compete, they current software model isn't viable at all on a streaming service similar to GP.

Lmfao what?  You have it backwards.  Console manufacturers make the lion share of the money off software sales.  1st party as well as 3rd party sales (Royalties from 3rd parties).

Hardware is sold at a loss at the beginning of the gen... as the gen goes on and that same hardware becomes cheaper to manufacture they start making money off thw hardware as well (obviously they will have to sell a ton of hardware to profit).

The publishers and retailers make far more

But of course if you buy a game directly from MS or Sony's marketplaces and cut out the middle man, they'll make more money.

That's the breakdown for a $60 3rd party game.   Sony/Nintendo/MS gets 10 per 3rd game sold... as David pointed out ONE single copy of the 3rd party game nets them almost the cost of one month subscription of gamepass for a hardware manufacturer.

Now multiply that $10 by the millions of copies of all 3rd party software sold at retail and that number grows exponentially.  The hardware manufacturers are getting millions from games that spent zero dollars on.

The margins for digital 3rd party software sold is even HIGHER for the manufacturers.

And last but not least, for first party software... the hardware manufacture retains the majority of the money from each sale at retail. There is no royalty fee because they're selling a 1st part game.

This nets them 3x of a monthly GP sub for each single copy of a 1st party game sold at retail.

With Digital they get 100%, because it's their own game on their own store.  Which again is what, 4x of one GP sub per copy sold.
