PC beatdown 2021: Lost Judgment could be the last game in the series due to disagreement between SEGA & the agency of actor Takuya Kimura (Agency doesn’t want PC port)

PC will be responsible for ending the Judge Eyes/Judgement franchise.

Quote
According to an article from a Japanese showbiz news site named Nikkan Taishu, in which the site did an interview with someone familiar with the situation, Sega wanted to publish Lost Judgement on PC/Steam to further extend the series' audience but the protagonist's actor Takuya Kimura's talent agency refrained them from doing so due to their very strict portraiture right policy (very limited pictures of their talents even on their website). Sega thinks this doesn't look reasonable in terms of business and decides to end the series with the second entry.

Most of the above info is in the 2nd page of the article.

Edit: Some of you ask why the talent agency prevent Sega from publishing the PC version, as I say in the post, the talent company "Johnny's" have a very strict portraiture right policy, they don't want their talents' portraits on "a PC platform that is not a game console platform and connects directly to Internet."

RIP Judgement. Hopefully these guys can get the PC version cancelled in time.

Seriously.   "Developer is willing to end series rather than give up making the series for that platform, therefore that platform is owned" has got to be the dumbest leap in logic this place

Its not a new IP  It's basically a Yakuza spin off set within the same universe with many of the same gameplay systems and mechanics.

Don't bother, it's a Yakuza spinoff lol.

wishing the actor and agency the best, they're taking on the crooked, pirate ridden pc gaming industry hard with this one.

His likeness and his image should never be subject to an open-pirate PC platform. Closed console eco-system is a right for all developers.

Publishers are terrorizing devs by forcing them to port to PC for cheap chinese dollars.

PC gaming is terrorism.

The company who failed in the console wars and dropped out.

Yeah, let's follow their business acumen.

How are you this retarded? Because of some faggoty actor you honestly think that they're going to sacrifice bringing a game to a completely different platform? The stupid business decision would be to succumb to that kind of ridiculous demand.

No one is butthurt, I just can't for the life of me understand how you can say something that stupid with a straight face.

Yeah you are.

And you don't even have a good business argument to begin with.

SEGA either wants to make money, or they don't.

They finally have a NEW IP that is successful, which is something they don't accomplish every other day.

Their choice is clear, leave it for consoles, especially PS4 and PS5 which has a massive userbase in US and Japan to satisfy whatever sales expectations they may have............and make money.

OR............make no money at all.

The PC sales are absolutely not worth losing PS4/PS5 sales.  You aren't smart enough to provide a persuasive argument to the contrary.

How do you think you gain a proactive user base? By continually engaging with the platform base until they latch onto your products. Why do you think PlayStation has had such continual success with Japanese titles? It's not just because they're Japanese, it's because they have continually brought these titles to the platform without relenting.

PC, Xbox, any platform would be no different. Skipping Xbox, skipping PC, this is what causes people to not care about these kinds of games. It's not because Japanese games can't sell an Xbox and they can't sell on PC, it's because there's been no reliability of approach or releases to even retain a user base that would allow them to sell.

So yes, it would be a retarded mistake that only you would find as a positive to chase a shrinking and dying ecosystem in the face of new options.

No, they absolutely are different.

Post Xbox's Japanese numbers, right now.............they've been in Japan for 20 years.

Wow, that was easy debunking your entire argument.

You honestly tried to say that Xbox was making headway in Japan.:tom:

PlayStation is dead in Japan, Japan the territory has nothing to do with this. Absolute autist.

No, they are much more alive than Xbox will ever be.

I don't know what you were thinking..........did you honestly think trying to criticize the Playstation's presence in Japan was going to take away from the simple fact that Xbox is an absolutely NON-STARTER in Japan?

If anything, you just made the argument for Sega abandoning PC/Xbox development of Judgement and devoting those resources to the Switch, which would have been allowed in this situation.

All signs are pointing SEGA in the direction of CLEARLY focusing the Judgement IP towards Sony and Nintendo.
