They're looking at games that are failing on Linux due to anticheat/drm issues, which Valve already said are being resolved for Deck. Elden Ring will run on this while the Sheep have to cloud stream Control lol.

This is from a 2019 AMD APU which is actually inferior to what is in this handheld. It'll run BOTW2 better than the Switch Amateur.

It's just above $700 which makes it about 82% more expensive than a switch, but 500% more powerful. You're not going to make any compelling argument here buddy. I think it could easily have a 10 year life cycle. If you think how long it will take for indie developers to make games like Red Dead Redemption 2, Deck should be a viable platform at least that long. Vita would still be a viable platform today if it still got indie ports within its hardware spec. But Deck wont rely on specifically targeted ports.

And the greatest part about it, even if it doesn't succeed and valve drops it it doesn't suddenly stop getting games.

Their goal is to try to have all the reservations converted into orders by launch... ie making the amount of units for launch that they need... but they can't guarantee it, which is why they're putting out estimates like that. My version has a Q1 estimate.. But yea, that could change too.

Honestly, are you actually going to enjoy playing games designed for a mouse and keyboard with sticks and touch pads and a 7" screen? You're fooling yourself into giving Gabe 700+ dollars. sugarhigh 519
One major thing Valve needs to add is a low-storage download option for Steam. There's no reason why a 720p device needs the full 80GB+ install of Death Stranding with 4k-ready assets. Devs can build a version with downscaled assets pretty easily for a smaller install. This is one thing I won't agree with you on. It's a nice concept but that would require additional work on behalf of every developer and that's just not going to happen. It'd be a kin to the work put into stadia titles where they're basically just a PC game configured a certain way with the settings removed. The deck has SD expansion for additional storage, capacity is not going to be an issue. Edited July 16, 2021 by DynamiteCop
