Twinblade★ 3,893
Places with higher vaccination rates have much looser restrictions while places with lower rates are still pretty locked down, so this makes sense. Either way it seems that the vaccines aren't that useful in actually stopping you from getting the virus.

Covid-19 cases, hospitalizations rise, particularly in unvaccinated red states now we’re seeing an uptick in U.S. coronavirus cases and hospitalizations — coming primarily from red states, where vaccination rates are well below the national average. “Arkansas has one of the lowest vaccination rates in the country, with less than 35 percent of adults having been fully vaccinated. Now, the state's low vaccine uptake has crashed headlong into the highly contagious delta variant of the coronavirus, leaving some hospital systems once again teetering on the brink of collapse more than a year into the pandemic,”

Within those red states is deep blue counties with high black and Hispanic populations that are not getting vaccinated. https://www.azmirror.com/2021/07/16/us-black-and-latino-communities-often-have-low-vaccination-rates-but-blaming-vaccine-hesitancy-misses-the-mark/ I don't know whether is just higher vaccine hesitancy or barriers but they are definitely the least vaccinated populations. Honestly the only way you're going to get a higher compliance is if COVID were far more deadly than 0.8% fatality rate. Edited July 19, 2021 by Cooke

This is the road im going incase you missed it - "places with lower vaccination rates and looser restrictions.."

Goukosan 2,249
Just now, Cooke said: particularly in unvaccinated red states. Don't post that unless you want to discuss the details. States with loose Covid restrictions and low vaccination rates are having a surge with overloaded hospitals once again. That's the point.... Those states so happen to be red states because those red states chose to loosen the restrictions. The spike isn't happening simply because it's a red state, the virus itself isn't political. The spike is happening because of the loose restrictions + low vaccination rates in those states. There are red states that did not have loose restrictions and they're not seeing spikes. This isn't as simple as red and blue. The fact is the vaccine does not stop transmission. We need to learn to accept covid is going to be with us. Get vaxxed, don't die, get covid and recover and move on. We can't keep shutting things down, especially for a virus as weak as this.

States with loose Covid restrictions and low vaccination rates are having a surge with overloaded hospitals once again. That's the point.... It's like you two see red and blue and miss the entire point....lol and no New York isn't seeing its hospitals overloaded again because we have an over 70% vaccination rate. What NY is seeing is an increase of Covid19 cases/ spread amongst those who aren't vaccinated.
