Saints Rows reboot gameplay

I don't understand why the new cast is the reason people are complaining. The artchetypes are exactly what you'd expect from Saints Row, its just a new universe and setting.

What? Id expect a play on actual gangster tropes not TikTokers

This game is like GTA4 coming out with an emo main character in 2008

I like it.

The plot is they're Tik-Toc Zoomers who form a gang to pay off their student loans. One wants to be an anthropologist, one wants an MBA and speaks the "language of startups," and the other doesn't eve

People just need to come to terms with the fact that shit changes...

Just like gaming conventions aren't what they were in the past, and are completely different now... the same goes for the actual games themselves.  The creators of our "favorite games" have/are moving on and making way for a new generation.  A generation which follows new trends...

We all want games to be made the way WE want them... but the reality is that we're getting older now, and times and tastes are changing.  Other groups of gamers are becoming more vocal and want to see themselves represented.  Nothing wrong with that.  With gaming having completely changed form over the last couple decades.. becoming a MASSIVE industry all around the world.. and gaming development cost and complexity skyrocketing... publishers and developers essentially need to target as many people as possible to sustain their business.  We also live in a world where anyone can make a game and find themselves suddenly sitting on a massive cash cow which can change the direction of the entire industry.

Essentially... it's at the point where... sorry to say it to you if it hurts your feelings, but... games aren't specifically made for you and your generation anymore.  We're all in our 30s and close to 40s now.. we're not kids... the industry has gone through stages just as we have in our lives...  The world has changed too.. SOME game companies ask you to grow up with them... others target your nostalgia for the past... and some know and can strike the right balance... but at the end of the day... it's a new generation of gamers out there.. relax.  Some girl being on the cover of a War game isn't fucking hurting you... Some trans character being included isn't killing you... some game that was once about over the top stereotypical gangsters becoming about Tik Tockers doing some different shit or whatever... isn't the end of the world.

Simply don't buy them.  That's what you can do.. and perhaps next time they might make a game you want to play..  If not, and they were successful?  Well, too bad.. times change.

Nobody cares if a new IP comes out looking like this. Its changing old IP into something unrecognisable. And completely like a dozen other games with the same art style

Its a bit like how Marvel comics are dead in the water trying to appeal to the Twittersphere who don't actually buy comics. Yes they need to get new and young fans, but they aren't doing it with the current direction and alienating the old fans at the same time

Now we just need another Okami re-release and the cycle will be complete

Yes but only if they remake it with Okami being a Transgender Black Woman.

This...

"hardcore" gamers like all of us on gaming boards need to come to realization that we're not the ones keeping the gaming market booming.  It's the mass market... And as we get older we outgrow the target audience of most of these games and hence we've aged out the mass market target audience.

lol sit down, clown. I'm not about to lose my shit over a Saints Row game nor your debating skills equivalent to that of a 12 years old.

Is this all you add to threads these days?

lol Did anyone bring up race or gender or politics before he and Saucer did? Just like you do all the time? What is there to add to an already shitty conversation with idiots? Ever since Gamergate white men in the geek sector have grown increasingly petulant over any perceived loss of status, presence, or praise. Like this niggas reaction to a trailer is "the soys are whining about white angel princes again" nonsense.

Or discounting the fact that even at face value, the sheer lack of self awareness and stupidity to say "How is this cultural appropriation? Its white guys making a game about non white men and women!" and immediately not do the mental 1+1=2 on it? Like do you not actually know what cultural appropriation is? I'm not even saying this is cultural appropriation, like that never crossed my mind until you brought it up. But then you're so invested in the fact that you think some white men weren't being credited enough for heroically creating non-white guy characters you got caught up in a moment or something. Then he had a similar meltdown to yours where he ends with the "reverse racism" money shot.

I'm pretty sure society is descending into the lower rings of Hell now and we'll be able to see Satan sticking up out of the ice soon.

Good, this game looks like pwnage

This game looks 100 times more interesting than any saints row game I played, besides saints row 1 which was cool because It reminded me of Eminem gangster warriors. But I'll probably enjoy this more. The writing looks better than anything I've seen and the atmosphere is so cool looking. I own saints row 3 and It's unfair because PC games don't work and steam is stuck in 2008... but it was so uninteresting. I hope this game rules on PS5.

This idea is as good as any, I suppose.

I was thinking that they should have gone forward in time, a long time. The whole world destroyed itself, in some catastrophic event.

And its basically Mad Max meets Fallout. You're a wandering drifter, and there's roving gangs who are going around pillaging towns, and you come across a broken down car with a Saints Row jacket, and you wear it. And people suddenly think that you were part of the heroic 3rd Street Saints, and you lie to them and tell them that they still exist.

And that's how you start recruiting members and maybe start building a safe haven for the people, and go after those roving gangs. And it has no tongue-in-cheek humor, its almost like a biblical epic (which would be one big tongue-in-cheek joke).

So pretty much, the premise of Kevin Costner's The Postman, but with Saints Row.

The only one melting down here is you. I don’t Saucer took it as seriously as you did. Shit its just a game with no love or passion behind it, its made just to make as much money as possible and probably ran through focus groups and mostly designed by their marketing department. Let it go.

Take what seriously? I made one comment about a couple of the characters looking and sounding like a couple of the creative staff. That's it. Y'all tried cracking some code behind it like a knucklehead scooby team and shit. You also have a lot of nerve pretending to have any chill you lost your shit because I said "incel" lol.

I made fun of the Tik-Tok culture it's trying to copy. You then said the characters were designed to look like the devs, and I simply showed you they don't. Don't drag me into your daily temper tantrum.

Now suddenly it's only "a couple" instead of the staff in general. Keep moving those goalposts.
