New PS5 model comes with a major downgrade. TCHBFAR

Recommended Posts

In a new video from tech YouTuber Austin Evans (which you can find above), the internals of this new PS5 model were looked over in great detail. Based on what was found with this new version, the console itself is now lighter than the previous one, but the reason for this change can be found with what was inside. When opening up this PS5 and comparing it to the previous version, the heatsink aspects of the new PS5 seem to be slightly different than the original iteration. In a move that was clearly meant to help offset manufacturing costs of the PS5, Sony removed a large portion of the heatsink that was seen in the first revision of the console, which led to this drop in weight.

This will be the same as the RROD.

The chip is the same, but with less overhead.

Fan is also the same.

This console will overheat, unless Sony has also downclocked the chip speed.

Yeah, no. It’s nowhere near that simple.

Yeah Sonys engineers (who are so much less intelligent than you btw) pulled out the heatsinks to save a few bucks and the bosses at Sony just decided fuck it, saving a bit of money on heatsinks will more than make up for the PR disaster that would be RROD2 - a disaster which cost Microsoft more than $1 billion to fix.

If only Sony hired someone with brains as big as yours they could avoid this oncoming disaster but alas I fear it may already be too late.

LOL I love how you just posted an article of what is supposed to be a reputable gaming site, but that gaming site is basing it off of that stupid youtube video that was already posted and laughed at.

Do you even actually read the article?

Noticing "higher EXHAUST temps" ................means jack shit.

The only thermal measurement that matters is one that is taken right on the surface of the component (processor and RAM modules).

If a piece of hardware is actually exhausting hotter air, it may actually be doing a better job at ventilating the heat out.

Yea, no Mala.  This is fine.  The air exhausting being hotter doesn't mean anything.  They likely went way overboard on the original console just to be safe, and now they have, and are more confident in their materials and they are cutting back where they can.

Hot air leaving the console is a GOOD sign... it's doing it's job.. and as long as the console remains in spec, there's nothing to be concerned about.

It reminds me of people who say "omg your GPU is running at 85'C" that's TOO hot"... when the reality is... no.. it's designed to run at that temp... The heatsink and cooler were very carefully designed to run the GPU as fast as it can, until those temps are reached.

That's the entire point.

I don't entirely agree, hotter air leaving the console can also and in most cases does indicate inadequate cooling which results in an overall higher system temperature i.e. warmer air exhausting.

More effective cooling generally results in cooler exhaust temperatures as it has lowered the overall system temperature.

The same Sony engineers behind the DRE and YLOD.

Yep.

A lot of people are talking about this. It's a matter of wait and see but I am already seeing where this will go
