Apple just lost the court case between them and Epic Games, apps can now use other payment method separate from Apple's Payment System

Recommended Posts

Epic Games just blow a whole right out of Apple's walled prison.

Quote

Under the new order, Apple is:
- permanently restrained and enjoined from prohibiting developers from including in their apps and their metadata buttons, external links, or other calls to action that direct customers to purchasing mechanisms, in addition to In-App Purchasing and (ii) communicating with customers through points of contact obtained voluntarily from customers through account registration within the app. In the full ruling, Judge Gonzalez-Rogers explained her thinking on the issue in greater detail.

Epic came, they saw, and they conquered.:blessed:

So this means Microsoft can now natively bring xCloud to iPhones and Apple can't do a damn thing about it LOL.

Lol jerry. The tech companies completely own the EU and US congress these days. That has been apparent how they keep getting away with their shit and lying to their faces.   The US will do n

Yeah, now all they need is people to actually sign up for GamePass.

And it seems like Microsoft can't do a damn thing about that LOL

I am. GamePass is not selling like you think it is.

Microsoft has not given any update on subscriber stats since 18 million since the beginning of February of this year.

Shame, I was hoping Epic would get BTFO. Not an Apple fanboy but Epic has this slimy, sleaziness to them that I haven’t seen since Microsoft.

Epic did get fucked lol

"Today's ruling isn't a win for developers or for consumers," Epic CEO Tim Sweeney wrote in a tweet shortly after the ruling. Apple applauded the judge's decision, adding in a statement that it "faces rigorous competition in every segment in which we do business."

Don't let the title fool you, Epic got got absolutely obliterated in this ruling.

Non-Epic developers got a decent win in that they can provide in-game buttons that link to a webpage where you can buy directly from them, but Epic wanted to introduce their own storefront on iOS and their own payment processor on iOS. Epic wanted to be the middle-man instead of Apple, but not only did the judge deny them that opportunity but the judge also ruled against Epic when it came to Epic's developer account, which means the future of Fortnite on iOS is completely in Apple's hands. It was a bloodbath.

LOL Epic just needs to submit the Fortnite app as a free-to-play, just like any other developer.

And if Apple bans them, then can sue. saying they are being unfairly targeted.

Fortnite is going back on the App Store, and then at that point, they "buy Vbucks" button will simply open up a webpage to the EpicGames.com website.

LOL Epic got the most important thing out of this.

The idea that Epic was going to single-handedly be able to break open the iOS platform would've been like a dream scenario, even by Epic's own optimistic standards.

And there's no worry about that, because the EU is going to fuck Apple up in that legal area, soon.

The judge isn't making a ruling about that.

If Apple bans the fortnite app, they have to give a reason why.

if Epic believes that Apple is unfairly targeting them and there is no reason to ban them, then they can sue, and that's another court case.

They went against the TOS is enough of a reason why, which is why the judge ruled that way lmfao.

Nope, that was in the past.

He is not ruling on the future submission of the Fortnite app, which will be under a different TOS because of this court ruling.

According to Judge Rogers, the termination of Epic’s App Store account is considered valid, as the game company in fact would have violated Apple’s terms and policies. For this reason, the judge will not force Apple to let Epic’s games back into the App Store. Epic Games will also have to pay damages to Apple for the time it sold in-app purchases on the iOS version of Fortnite without paying the App Store’s 30% commission.

lmfao you’re an idiot per usual.
